New Perks!

We've added some new perks in our incentives section including a signed storyboard print by Mark Moore at the $15 level. Mark's work is highly responsible for helping to visually define films like Iron Man, The Mummy, Star Trek and even some of the Star Wars saga! See more about him in "The Filmmakers" section below. Also check out  the "Lucidity," "Silent Lucidity," "Transcendence," and "Dogmatic" packages. They're all exciting new perks!

We're working on more, still to come!

What We Need & What You Get

We're looking to raise $7,800 to start principal photography of this film. The trailer above is all we have currently...it's only the concept of what the movie could be—our starting point.

We cannot shoot the entire movie at that budget level, but we're big believers in "activity breeds activity." We've spent almost three years in the writing, planning, and pre-production stages of the project and now is the time for filming.

There's a saying in the industry, "Good, fast, cheap...pick two." We're not willing to sacrifice "good" and we will make this film—it's just a matter of how much money we're able to raise. If we can raise more than the initial $7,800 and film more up front, that would be an absolutely welcomed blessing. If we can't, we'll work with what we get and however long it takes.

Can we raise more than the goal? Absolutely! The more we raise, the more we can shoot, the closer we get to making this movie.

Check out the "Perks Section" to the right to see what you'll be getting in return for helping us make this important film a reality! There is quite a variety of ways for us to say thank you. And if you're unable to help at this point in time financially, please spread the word about the campaign. It's not just about the film, it's also about the message behind the film and why we're making it to begin with.

The Synopsis: A Psychological Struggle

Donovan Drake constantly wavers between a brilliant mania and crippling despair. Recently divorced and despite limited visitation, he strives to be a good father to his three-year-old son. But when the advice of his psychiatrist is met with blatant opposition by his new girlfriend, Donovan quits his treatment and decides to beat his condition on his own terms.

Donovan is a gripping psychological thriller that takes you inside the broken mind of a man struggling with his own madness, how it affects his relationships with those around him, and how he must confront his current condition while coming to terms with his toxic past.

It is a modern day story of Jeckyll and Hyde.

The Filmmakers

Jason Bee, writer/producer/actor

Wearing “multiple hats” is something Jason Bee does well. Previous to Donovan, Jason wrote, produced and directed the short film It Was a Good Day in which he also played the lead role as Jack. The film premiered at the USA Film Festival as a “Texas Showcase of Shorts” program.

Jason has spent three years cultivating the idea of Donovan into the finalized script that it is today. Having already received critical feedback by friends, family, peers and a few of industry insiders at various stages in the writing; and then a fully-hosted table read with actors and an audience, this story has seen an extraordinary evolution into the powerful screenplay it has become. When executed properly, this can be a feature film with unlimited potential.

It was awarded the Gold Remi at the 2013 Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival and was an Official Selection of the 2013 USA Film Festival.

Christopher Kingsley, director of photography

In 2009, Chris shot his very first feature film, Hamlin Pond, which won Best in Show as well as Best Narrative Feature at the Boomtown Film and Music Festival in Beaumont, Texas. More recently, he just wrapped as Director of Photography on Chariot, an explosively thrilling feature about seven strangers and their unwitting participation in a U.S. government evacuation program gone horribly wrong, starring Anthony Montgomery from Star Trek Enterprise.
