Who I Am
Hi. My name is Emily Drew. I am a singer/songwriter based in San Diego, CA. I have been at this music thing for the last 9 or 10 years of my life. I began my journey with music alone in my room, finding solace in words and sound. After 1 year of this (because that was my goal) I played the first of many open mics at little pub in Tampa, FL called Yeoman's Road Pub. Performing and composing came naturally to me. I quickly became addicted but told myself that I wasn't good enough to actually pursue music as a career. This went on for a few years and I studied other various interests, but my heart always came home to music. After a many years of honing my skills and voice I finally gained some confidence and decided to go for it. I moved to San Diego where some of my favorite artists had been discovered. San Diego infused me and my music with new life and inspiration. I began recording demos in my home studio and in 2013 was lucky enough to receive financial backing for my Debut EP - "The Finer Things". A compilation of 6 songs inspired by my life at that time. Happier, still a bit lost, but optimistic. I took these songs into a local studio with a provided engineer, and self-produced my EP. While it turned out well enough and allowed me to share my music, it's time I go all in and hire a producer to take my songs to the next level.
Since then, I've continued to grow as a person and as an artist. I moved out of the realm of believing my gifts were given to me only to express my emotions, but also to touch the lives of others. I can say things people need to hear, inspire, and make other feel less alone in what they are going through. I can put into words and sound to feelings that most people can't. More than an inner calling, now, I feel a higher calling.
It's time to release some of this new music to the world. I am up to my ears in it. However, my trusty producer and I plan like to narrow it down to 10 amazing songs. For them to be amazing, and to reach the ears of the world, I need your help! If I am to stand out at all against the myriad of talented musicians out there... I need SOLID, professionally produced recordings. Those are expensive...
What I Need & What You Get
In order to successfully record and release a full length album, I need at LEAST $10,000. This may seem like a lot, but in the music/recording world it is pretty standard. Here is what the money will go to:
- My Producer/Engineer - $750-$1000 per song
- Session Musicians- professional drummer, string players, etc. - Cost TBD
- CD Printing and Distribution - At least $1000
- Crowd Funding Fees - $500
- Promotional Merchandise - Cost TBD
I am offering some great perks in return for your donations! Every donator will at least get the digital version of the new album. Other perks include signed hard copies of the album, newly designed Emily Drew shirts, previous and unreleased tracks, cover songs of your choice, guitar lessons or private yoga instruction, live performances, and personalized songs just for you! I am basically offering whatever I can to achieve this big dream.
In addition to the perks seen here, I will be announcing free online concerts to showcase some of these new songs! Join my email list or "like" me on Facebook to stay in the know!
If I don't reach my goal:
If I don't reach my goal, I will still make something happen. I will work with what I have. This will most likely mean less songs getting out to the world which would be a bummer but I will still be super grateful for what I get and still put my whole heart into this project.
If I reach my goal:
I will cry tears of joy. With my music career where it is right now, a full length, fully produced album is exactly what I need. I've paid my dues in wine bars and open mics for 9 years and I finally have gained some recognition in my community. This project will create way more opportunities for me to get my songs out to more of the world. Solid, competitive quality recordings allow me to be noticed by labels, get my songs licensed for tv shows and commercials, go on tour, get bigger shows, and more!
Most of all I just want my messages to reach as many ears as they can. To inspire others to go for their dreams, to be of comfort to those who need it, and to be a soundtrack to the celebration of life.
