Nudge your portions with ETE
It’s all too easy to load up our plates and eat more than what we need.
In fact it’s been shown that we can eat 30% more when offered a large portion compared to a smaller portion despite feeling similarly full*.
We created ETE because we want to help nudge people into eating portions of each food group that are neither too large, nor too little, but just right.
“A plate that shows, in a simple graphic, how to eat a balanced meal.” FastCo
"While portion control plates have been made before, the new design is arguably better looking." FastCo
“This amazingly designed plate can stop you from overeating” Lifehack
“It’s got a surprisingly simple design that almost makes you want to hit your head and ask yourself why you didn’t think of it first.” Lifehack
"Though the first batch of English ETE plates are already sold out, our fingers are crossed that this awesome idea will be hitting our tables again soon." Brit+Co
Designed based on US and EU nutritional guidelines, ETE can be used for a meal made up of protein, vegetables and starch.
Fancy steak and chips for dinner? Sure thing. ETE’s colored lines guide you into serving just the right amount, along with your recommended portion of veggies for your meal.
How about a tofu and vegetable stir fry? Great choice. Place your stir fry between the blue lines, your rice/noodles between the yellow, and some extra salad between the orange lines.
Earlier this year, we sold 150 hand silk screen ceramic ETE plates. We loved them, but we knew we could do better. We wanted to use a material with less impact on our environment, which is why our new ETE plates are made of 95% bamboo fiber.
Why bamboo?
Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world (growing up to 4 feet per day!) and it releases 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. In addition, harvesting bamboo is a much better alternative to destroying native forests as tree plantations have to be chopped down to be harvested, but bamboo just keeps growing and can be re-harvested within five years.
Not easy to break - In case you drop it on the floor, it won’t shatter or chip.
Dishwasher safe – Easy to clean.
Biodegradable – At the end of it’s life, ETE is naturally compostable, resulting in less environmental damage due to landfill waste (but don’t worry, as long as you don’t bury your plate in soil, you’ll be able to use it as long as you want!)
At the end of our campaign, we’ll be donating one plate for every ten sold to a high school or academic institution chosen by our supporters, as we want to help foster healthy habits from an early age.
When we reach our first 100 sales, the first 10 donated (donETE'd!) plates will go to the Yulius Academy from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After these first 10 are given away, the other ETE plate donations will still need a loving home. If you'd like some free ETE plates for your favourite school or institution, please fill in our form to indicate your interest!
We know our supporters are across the world, so please check the cost to deliver ETE to your country below and add the appropriate amount to your pledge to ensure that your order gets delivered.
We realise that this can be quite fiddly, so do email us if you have any questions info@eteplate.com.
At the bottom of this page we have a FAQ where we discuss how to add your shipping to your order!
We’ve chosen Shipwire’s distribution services to ensure that your ETE plates arrive safe and sound at your doorstep. We’ll be using two of their distribution warehouses - one in the US (for North America customers) and one in the UK (for EU customers) - to help make our international deliveries a smoother process and that you get your rewards on time.
Manufacturing takes tremendous effort. We've spent months hustling our way through several factories and iterating dozens of designs and samples (we've seen a lot of plates!). At last, we've found the perfect manufacturer for producing environmentally friendly ETE plates at a high quality.
The biggest risk, as with many crowdfunding campaigns, is delay. We're confident that we can get ETE plates to you on time. We have experience in scaling up production, shipping, and distribution (Chenting's family has been working in manufacturing for 15 years), and we've factored in some extra weeks in the timeline in case things take longer than expected.
In all, we care a lot about our supporters, and we promise we'll keep you updated on our progress.
ETE plate has been used to help Yulius Academy, part of the Yulius mental health institution in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, which helps more than 19,000 clients with psychiatric conditions and learning disabilities.
For other questions, please check our website FAQ or email us info@eteplate.com for any other queries.
Thank you!

Please note: There’s only so much a visual nudge in the form of your ETE plate can do to help you on your way to being healthy. In that regard, we trust you’ll play your part by avoiding the temptation to deep fry everything, stack up several pancakes and bathe your food in ketchup :)
