Evil Duck Workshop is a bi-weekly model and prop building show that caters to both the beginning modeler and the seasoned expert. Every episode covers basic and advanced techniques, scratch-building, kitbashing and much more, presented in a way different from other "how to" shows.
Think of a cross between Mr. Wizard, MacGyver and Monty Python and you will get the idea.
Another highlight is showing builders how to make, rather than buy, their own tools, helping them save money in the long run. I also do commission work for clients, and I create kits of models that the big model companies don't produce; it wouldn't be financially feasible for them. I can do smaller runs; even make kits "made to order" so that I don't need a huge inventory.Episode 2 of The Evil Duck Workshop
My Indiegogo campaign is geared toward investing in new video and editing equipment, so that I can make the show more professional. I am also in the process of producing a how-to DVD called "Basic and Advanced Lighting for Model and Prop Builders" which will go from the basics of using LEDs and soldering to the use of inexpensive Arduino controller boards to give your model realistic effects. You will NOT need prior electronics knowledge! The DVD will be released in February, 2015.
I am also creating my own line of model kits and super-detailing accessories to help builders make the most accurate models possible. I have three kits ready for molding right now, and 4 detailing kits. This is a fast growing area - modelers are less and less satisfied with model kits that don't deliver the quality they expect. I want to bridge that gap, and help them make a good model outstanding.
I want to raise $4500 to invest in a new video camera, better sound equipment and molding and casting materials for a series of both full model kits and aftermarket parts to make existing kits more accurate. The amount also includes the manufacture and shipping of some of the various perks.
There are a variety of perks available to those who donate to the campaign, ranging from credits in upcoming episodes to museum quality reproductions of famous movie models and props, as well as downloadable copies and/or actual copies of the Electronics DVD, when it becomes available.
NOTE: $50.00 contributers also get a downloadable copy of the DVD when available. This is a new addition to the perk, and I can't actually add it, so I'm telling you here.
The response to the first episodes of Evil Duck Workshop - The Model and Prop Building Show have been phenomenal. People have said that this is the kind of "how to" show that they have been waiting for. Viewership has almost tripled since the first episode. I want to make the show even better, higher quality and give the fans what they've been asking for.
Doing an hour show bi-weekly is almost a full time job. It takes time to write, set up, record (and re-record when mistakes happen) and to edit. And creating a DVD is a different matter all together, but I'm going to make it happen. I've gotten dozens of requests to do a Basic and Advanced Electronics DVD, and I don't want to let anyone down.
Producing kits for sale requires a lot of labor intensive work, building the original prototype, plus the time needed for molding and casting, printing decals, writing instructions, proper packaging and shipping.
I've been building models and props for many years. I do commission work for clients all over the country, and I work at home, so I set my own schedule. I am dedicated to making the time to make Evil Duck a success.
I know that there are some people who just can't contribute, and that's fine. You can still help. Spread the word about the Evil Duck Workshop campaign on social media! Indiegogo has several tools to help you out.
