Why Do We Need This Money?
We are collaborating with leading designers and brands, including G-Star RAW, Stella McCartney, Loomstate, Bionic Yarn, Belk department stores and their supply chain partners who will create better manufacturing processes and materials for our clothing.
DOEN Foundation of the Dutch Postcode Lottery in the Nethelands in partnership with Wendy and Eric Schmidt have already provided the beginning balance to fund these initial projects.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO RAISE AN ADDITIONAL $100,000 AND COMPLETE FUNDING NEEDED FOR THESE PROJECTS.
THIS $100,000 WILL:
A. Provide much needed innovation funding for 2-3 project partners who make materials for apparel (e.g., yarns, fabrics, buttons, zippers, dyes, etc..).
B. Examples of how the money will be used are:
i. Optimize a mill's renewable energy profile.
ii. Improvements to current water and filtration system or other means for ensuring the recycling of clean water into the facility and providing clean effluent to local systems.
iii. Creation of projects which improve social practices at the facility level, thus impacting the lives of workers and local community (e.g. education, training, fair wage, human rights, women's rights, etc...).
iv. Invest in materials take back, recycling or upcycling programs within the facilities, brands, retailers or across the entire supply chain (e.g. creating a system for fibers to be recollected and spun into future yarns).
v. Green chemistry needs (e.g. spur research and development for new innovations in better dyes, pigments and processing chemicals to lesson impact on people and planet).
Every dollar you donate will be used to ensure that these supply chain partners have the means to create better materials for our clothes.
We only need $100,000 to complete the balance needed to begin this work. Wendy and Eric Schmidt have generously committed to matching dollar-for-dollar every dollar you give. We need to raise $50,000 to be matched by Wendy and Eric Schmidt, totaling $100,000 needed to begin this important work. That's a total of $100,000
you will help us create for this work.
