I grew up in Harlem, NYC. My parents (Writer and Painter) exposed us to the arts at an early age, despite extreme poverty. I started performing as a dancer and actor in theater productions as a kid, later on, acting in Films.
I was the lead in ALAN TAYLOR (The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Rome, The Many Saints of Newark, and many many more) ‘s first film, That Burning Question.
As a result of the awards and attention that Alan got for that film, he was able to land meetings with many agents and producers in Los Angeles.
When anyone would ask about GRACE - the lead in his film - he’d be sure to mention that I was also a writer.
As a result of Alan’s generosity, I was able to connect with a literary agent at Triad - Ronda Gomez - who helped me sell my first script to Warner Bros and also land a 3 picture deal at Disney.
This short, "LUCKY," represents my fascination with the thin line between Tragedy and Comedy: everything is based on character, - the best writing always is - and these very specific, absurd "loser" characters are both tragic, deluded, cringey ...yet also willing to embrace love. What separates tragedy from comedy is, sometimes, just a slight shift of perspective. I wanted everyone watching to feel these quick flashes of perspective change: a kidnapping turns into a wild dance party. A hot romance turns into another kidnapping. I want to show humanity in it's most authentic form: unpretentious, not fake, not following the dictates and rhythms of "performance," but absurd, weird and offbeat.
Thank you so much for your consideration and donation.

Jeff Wing, cultural critic for Montecito Journal and many other publications had this to say about LUCKY:
“Kate, I watched your film, LUCKY, the night before last and was blown away. Your film is basically a brilliant, tightly-wound dark tension-comedy about ships happily colliding in the night, and it rocks. You got great performances from your actors. Brendan McIvor Fleming is an absolute natural, of course, and Tyrone Lanier has that combo of nuanced calm and a sort of organic explosivity that mark a real actor.
Thanks to Janelle Christa’s detailed reserve and lock-step chemistry with Fleming, Lucy’s evolution from jittery petty criminal to sunstruck love bug is a genuinely-felt wonder that helps anchor the film’s keynote.
And I was stunned to see on Imdb that was Leslie Zemeckis playing Ann. “
