How does a child survive without love? Based on a true story, Flight of the Sparrow portrays the journey of biracial Mary Sue born in 1942 in the Georgia woods who is given away by her white mother and lives by her wits in search of love and family. This film addresses issues of racism, abuse, and poverty. Help us raise $10,000 to complete this film and share Mary Sue's amazing story with the world. By giving Mary Sue the voice she never had as a child, we will inspire change.
Become a Sparrow
Flight of the Sparrow is a compelling story about a young, biracial girl named Mary Sue born in 1942 in the Georgia Woods. From birth Mary Sue was born in between two worlds, black and white, and was never part of either. Her white mother was never able to get past her own racist thinking to love and care for Mary Sue.
We are a husband and wife, independent film making team interested in creating films that promote social justice. We understand how hard it is to fund films that give voice to issues relevant to people of color, especially women of color. To this end, we need your help to raise the final $10,000 we need to complete this film. Mary Sue deserves to be seen and heard after all the decades she suffered invisible and alone. Your contribution will help us make a powerful statement about racism and abuse that is critical to hear at this moment in our history.
We Need Your Help!
At this time we have completed about 90% of our film. We need your help to finish and get this film out for the world to see. Your contribution will be used for:
