GABAGE MAN OVERVIEW

Welcome!  My name is Aaron Lopresti and if you just watched the promo video you already know that I have been working in mainstream comics for over 25 years on some of the industry's top titles.  10 years ago I created a monster/hero character called Garbage Man for DC Comics.  Garbage Man was featured in two separate mini-series and developed a committed fanbase and following. Because it was a creator-owned property DC never collected the 120- pages of story in a single volume.  Now that the rights to the character have returned to me, I am doing what they wouldn't. 

Garbage Man is the story of Richard Ethan Morse, an ambitious corporate lawyer who accidentally discovers some illegal activities by his largest client, Titan Pharmaceuticals.  Not wanting to risk exposure, Titan's lead research scientist, Holden Clive, has Morse abducted and used as a guinea pig for his immoral human growth experiments.  The experiments go horribly wrong and the evidence along with Richard Morse are destroyed.  But Richard Morse's chemically altered remains mingle with the refuse from Titan's waste dump and he emerges as Garbage Man. His journey to bring Titan to justice leads him into conflict with other outrageous monsters, all the while trying to rediscover his lost humanity and new purpose for his life.

This Project represents the best work of my career and I am excited to collect it all in one high quality publication but I can't bring it to life without you!  This is fixed amount campaign, so you don't have to worry about paying for something you won't receive.  Over my career, I have prided myself in professionalism and integrity.  You can trust that you will get what you pay for with the highest possible quality and timeliness.  

WHAT YOU'RE GETTING

GARBAGE MAN HARDCOVER COLLECTION:  9.5 X 12.5 European-sized approximately 170-page hardcover book. This includes the 120-page original DC Garbage Man saga with an additional 11 pages of new material.  (Since Batman appeared in the original DC version, those pages had to be removed and will be replaced with some of my never before seen characters.  So this your chance to own the first appearance of some heroes you will be seeing again!)   I am also including a chapter of my developmental sketches and designs.  But the major bonus in this collection is an all new 13-page Garbage Man story, written and penciled by me and inked and colored by my original Garbage Man collaborators, Matt Ryan and John Kalisz.

PERKS:  There are a few different levels of perks for you to choose from.  There will be a PDF version for those who have no more room for printed material.  There will be the standard edition with everything described above.  There will be a signed/remarque edition, which is the standard edition with my signature along with a small Garbage Man head remarque.  I am also including the option for a limited edition signed and numbered volume that will include a limited edition tipped in color print.  And finally, for those who want it all I am offering the limited edition version with a head sketch drawn in the book!

STRETCH GOALS:  I am offering only two stretch goals. The first will be "unlocked" when the campaign hits the magic number of $40,000.  I will expand the book to include a Garbage Man Pin-Up Gallery by some of the industry's top talent including RON GARNEY, KELLEY JONES, DANNY MIKI, JEROME MOORE  and HILARY BARTA.  These are the artists who have committed so far but there will be more added.  This gallery would be included in all versions of the book. 

The second stretch goal will be an added epilogue to the new Garbage Man story that will introduce a new villain to the ongoing Garbage Man saga.  When we hit the $45,000 mark this 3-page story extra will be added in to all editions of the book.

FINANCIAL GOAL: The amount I need to pull off this rather ambitious project is $35,000.  That might seem like a high number to some but remember the printing costs on a book this large is fairly high.  Also this number includes shipping estimates and the platform fees.  Most importantly,  I am using top industry professionals on this book and don't believe in asking other artists to help out for free.  I need to pay them their normal industry rates, which I am doing.  Despite this, I am not going to over charge you for the product. The price of the standard edition of this book is right in line with what you would pay for a volume of this size in your regular comic shop or bookstore.  Remember this is a fixed rate campaign, so if we don't hit the number you get your money back!  So jump on board and let's make this happen!  

PUBLICATION DATE

MAY 2020 or sooner.  Although I am currently working for DC Comics and other publishers I have cleared room in my schedule to begin working on this project the day after the campaign ends.  That being said, since others are contributing and it is impossible to predict the printing time turnaround or any unforeseen delays, I think setting a date of  May 2020 gives me plenty of time to absorb any surprises.  My plan is to get the book out sooner than that but better safe than sorry!
