CAPA Presents Gen
The Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) is a New York-based advocacy organization dedicated to addressing the community needs of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. Our goal is to build partnerships with community organizers as we help social profit organizations reach new audiences.
For 35 years, CAPA has been at the forefront of creating and sustaining personalized opportunities for nonprofits, businesses, artists, and individuals to explore our shared culture.
Gen is but another opportunity to
explore this shared experience through the arts. This year we hope to have a
curated theatrical event in coordination with several artist groups in the NYC
area. Gen has thus far been a great project to work with!

What Is Gen
Gen, the Root is a devised, contemporary art
performance piece. It is an interdisciplinary performance that brings poetry, dance, music, visual arts, and multimedia alive through stories of Asians’ journey
and life living in America.
The show will be a journey
through the history of Asian ancestors starting from early Chinese laborers in the 1850's to today in 2014. The narrative is told from the perspective of four Asian women’s day-to-day life perspectives and her emotional experiences.

What We Need & What You Get
In order for us to produce a quality beautiful show, we need to raise $12,000 to fund our project. We hope to raise at least $8,000 of that from our Indiegogo supporters. That is where our backers come in. They can contribute to what we are doing and receive awesome perks as well!
GEN coming June 12th-15th
Location: Robert Moss Theater @ 440 Studios
We are aiming to have our NYC World Premiere in June 2014. We have been rehearsing for several weeks and our scripts and music are written. CAPA & Gen's Creative Team, Designers, the Cast & the Crew have been working hard in production the last two months, and we are ready to work harder to share our stories with our audiences in NYC in May! We really believe that this is a unique beautiful project not only for Asian American community but also for the entire world, and we are relying on you to move us forward.
