New album from ghostrappy... Life in ghostworld
- This indiegogo thing is suggesting I introduce myself. Ok, Im Josh Katz. People on the internet know me as Rappy McRapperson. All my friends call me Rappy. My wife calls me suka blyat. My girlfriend calls me boo. In the pit of real ghostworld I didnt get laid for a year so yea Im still handsome and I am going to do what I want as long as its ok with God.
- I have made a bunch songs and albums. In 2008 and 2009 I had a few songs grace the top 10 on Itunes comedy charts. It sounds cooler than it is because its not very hard to get on that thing. The silkiest feather in my producer hat is the 5(five) albums I made with Wing Han Tsang . They made a South Park episode about Wing, because she is so awesome. Anyways. I haven't come out with a full length studio album since 2011 . Since then I have been traveling this world as a homeless ghost. I find stuff to get into like construction labor or fish processing or welding or line factory junk. Most recently I completed a restoration project for the Vonnegut House in Culver Indiana. My specific job duties were to pick up flecks of trash from the lawn and haul bags of garbage to the landfill . Even though I am very busy and active I still find time to write songs. The writing process for this album has taken about 2 years, which is normal. Now I have an 18 track album ready and its time I get into a studio and sing like a pretty bird. We are ready to go.
- Briefly describe your campaign and why it's important to you.
- Ok, This campaign is important to me because it gets my butt in a studio for a full length album. This album is a story about life in ghostworld.
-
Express the magnitude of what contributors will help you achieve. --
- Contributors will help me achieve the production of the full length album "Life in ghostworld." Which will be released 3/15/15. (This includes things like mixing, mastering, instrumental production, album art)
What We Need & What You Get
- Explain how much funding you need and where it's going. Be transparent and specific-people need to trust you to want to fund you.
- Ill be so transparent you can see right through the computer screen. Im asking for 5 thousand bucks. This gets my butt in a studio. I am purchasing 80 hours at a block rate . This is gives me about 4+ hours per track. This goes into vocals and the creation of the instrumentals. There is a mastering process as well. Lastly, Album art. I am asking an old friend and professional cartoonist to make the album cover and hoping he wont charge me too much. We will be cutting it pretty close here.
- I dont want to spoil too much, but this song will be in the album (re-recorded with a better bass track...
-
- Also a song called "Armaggedons a blast" 16 other songs, gunna be awesome.
- Tell people about your unique perks. Get them excited!
- Right. Well dont know how unique these perks are. They seem pretty standard and boring actually. For 25 bucks you get a digital copy of the album on its release day. For 60 I will mail you a doodle, for 100 we can chat on the phone. Sounds pretty lame actually. For 250 bucks you can have your voice somewhere on the album and live in infamy.
- Describe where the funds go if you don't reach your entire goal.
- Right, If I dont reach the entire goal I will still be recording this album anyways and it will still have 18 tracks and it will still be released on 3/15/15 ..The beets might sound a bit shittier. Ill be more stressed for time. skip mastering process. Cut a bunch of corners.. Beg Clint to throw me some extra work in Jan/Feb to cover costs.
The Impact
Feel free to explain more about your campaign and let people know how the difference their contribution will make:
- Explain why your project is valuable to the contributor and to the world.
-
Right! Well, You helped finance it, and you are making my life about 1000 times easier. I hope you will feel some joy in that, It will be much better to give this awesome project your money than some dumb charity. Most charities are scams. The bulk of charity money goes to pay these office fat cats 80 grand a year. My friend Brandon from Chicago worked at a big fancy charity. He told me all their tricks. Anyways your contribution will be going to something amazing. A really great album.
-
Point out your successful track record with projects like this (if you have one). Sure. I have alot of experience making dumb songs and albums. Its my strongest trait, Sounds pretty fun except when you realize nobody cares anymore and you have to work really crappy jobs and your soul gets crushed, But in regards to album production. I Love this stuff. I eat sleep and breathe stupid song production. Its why Im here typing away like a little mouse.
- Make it real for people and build trust.
- right! Real. Ok. This album is a complete fantasy and a story that I made up because I was bored and depressed. There is nothing real about it. I will however REALLY be recording it. Trust me that I am not gunna have my cousin record it while I smoke cigarettes across the street.
Risks & Challenges
People value your transparency. Be open and stand out by providing insight into the risks and obstacles you may face on the way to achieving your goal.
- People value my transparency? Well you learn something new everyday. OK--Ghosts are literally transparent. This album is titled Life in ghostworld. How transparent is an entire ghost world? what can be more transparent than waves of sound hovering around a transparent plain of non-existence?
- Describe your plan for solving these challenges.
- What challenges? I already went through the challenges. Misery and pain is the fuel and fodder for songwriters . I experienced the challenges, these challenges were so challenging I digressed into a fantasy land and wrote a bunch of awesome songs. I then compiled these written songs into an album storyarc. I learned storyarc because I am obsessed with Star Trek the next generation. I don't anticipate challenges in regards to the recording process. My biggest challenge will be: " 1 vocal track or 2?" . The engineer is a solid dude not an idiot. I dont know mabye the electric in the studio will go out? That would be a pretty big challenge. Sometimes we forget how dependent we are on electricity.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't mean they can't help:
- Ask folks to get the word out and make some noise about your campaign.
- Right. Well if your a fan and you cant afford to fork over 20 bucks you should get a job and not waste your time goofing off on the internet spamming my junk . Im not trying to be mean, I am saying this to help you. Once you have your shit together send me some MONEY. I need MONEY so I can get in a god damn studio to record an album.
