After 32 years in business...
Atlas Comics has been building a multi-generational community of pop culture lovers for more than three decades. Like the local tavern or the office water cooler, Atlas is the center of a thriving sub-culture of people who all love the same things: comic books, movies, science fiction, art, history and conversation. The circumstances that are keeping us closed are endangering our community, and we'd like your help to keep it going.
We need an influx of revenue, and we're offering discounts on future in-store purchases as an incentive.
Here's the idea:
We're trying to raise $7000 for operating expenses during this shutdown. We are not asking for gifts, but rather donations that will net you a 20 or 25% discount on future purchases of vintage back issue comics.
Atlas is known for the finest on-site collection of Silver, Bronze and Modern Age comics in Chicago, with over 70,000 issues to browse through daily. New collections and previously archived material arrive regularly. During our hiatus, thousands of classic comics never seen in the shop have been retrieved from storage and added to our inventory.
When Illinois allows a complete resumption of business, we will have a two day soft opening ONLY for those who have donated to this campaign. You can still redeem your donation amount at anytime after, but those first two days will be exclusive to our Indiegogo backers only.
You are our lifeblood!
Atlas could not have lasted all these years without the loyalty and support of our customers and friends. I miss you guys, and life is not quite the same without the conversation, energy and humor of the store. Who knows how long this pandemic will last, or if it might return later. This is a way to ensure our unique community will continue into the future.
This too, shall pass.
Long ago, those words were written for an ancient Chinese Emperor who asked his court philosopher to craft a saying that would be true under any circumstances. So: this too, shall pass. And when it does, we will be standing. With your help, Atlas will outlast Covid-19.
Know people who love comics? Send them our way.
Whether you love comics or not, you may know people who do. If so, please spread the word among them. Every connection helps strengthen our community. And, yes, I recognize the morbid oddness of telling you to spread anything.
