The Dream
![]()
In 2013, Scott and Rin Buchanan went after a dream of their own food truck, only to hit wall after wall in the process. Not content to leave Amarillo bereft of Scott's fantastic new American street fare, they rented a 200 square foot shack near downtown, slapped on some paint and signs, and began selling the city's most delicious tacos, burgers, and animal fries.
Three years later, local demand for YCSF deliciousness has outgrown their ability to satisfy. Early this year, Scott and Rin teamed up with Grant James and Colin Cummings to open a new location. With more space and seating and the addition of a craft beer lineup, YCSF can bring more amazing food to more amazing locals and play with flavors in new and exciting ways.

This new location means a new vision for the city's favorite street food restaurant. YCSF Craft will be everything you love about Yellow City Street Food, but with more hours, more specials, craft beer and wine, and a welcome, homey atmosphere you'll love. This is our place as much as it is yours. We can't wait to let you in.
Menu
YCSF specializes in bold flavored tacos, burgers, fries, mac 'n cheese, rissoto. There's not much Scott won't try. Whether it's chicken parmesan made with 8-hour roasted tomatoes, french fries topped with caramelized onions and bacon and house remoulade (Animal Fries), or a cheeseburger serve on a glazed donut bun with a fried egg (the Homer), you will be amazed at how good the food is. A typical menu, although this will vary a bit:
The Team
Scott Buchanan - Chef & Cofounder
With a background in fine dining and experience in kitchens from Austin to Amarillo, Scott's love for flavorful American and Asian food is bound only by the walls of his kitchen. His chef brain never stops, thank God. There is no stopping this guy from changing your life one bite at a time.
Rin Buchanan - Brand, Marketing & Design (& Cofounder)
Rin is passionate about art, music and YCSF. You've seen her hanging out of the order window in all kinds of weather. She's become an essential part of the kitchen and will continue as the voice of YCSF, designer, cook, cashier, and all around badass.
Colin Cummings - Paperwork & Spreadsheets (& Beer)
Keyboard skills for days. Colin's background in commercial purchasing and project management brings boring skills to the business. Blah blah blah business. He also loves beer and tacos and can swing a sledgehammer.
Grant James - Beer & Buildings (& Beer)
With an uncanny knack for beautifying buildings, Grant can tease a comfortable space out of a cavernous dump. Specializing in reuse of goods and unique materials, Grant also happens to be a beer whisperer and journeyman burger flipper. Plus his amazing beard.
The Plan
There are two things you should know about opening a restaurant.
1. It's expensive.
2. Banks don't like you.
While YCSF has three years of sales to point to, banks just don't like to lend money to restaurants. And since we are leasing our building, they like us even less. So we're going to fund this thing ourselves with your help. We already have some money from the landlord to fix up the building, but we still need money for things like:
- Equipment ($5K - $10K)
- Licensing and permitting fees ($1K+)
- Inventory ($1K+)
- Hiring ($10K+)
If we can hit our goal, we'll be able to finish out and stock the restaurant, hire some ass-kicking staff, and do this thing. But we need you. WE NEED YOU! We can't hit our goal unless you find a perk (or perks!) you love. And soon. We're running our campaign for only 25 days because, well, we need the money soon in order to open in August.
Contributors to the campaign who give $25 or more will be exclusively a part of two things: 1) Get to experience the restaurant early during our soft opening period and 2) You're invited to an Oktoberfest event at our place, which will include live music, beer, and lots of food, all outside on a delightful October evening. Details on both of these will be shared with contributors through campaign communications.
Location
Our new location will be at 2916 Wolflin. This location has housed several successful locally owned restaurants, and sits comfortably in a growing retail area. It's accessible to both I-40 and Georgia and, since it has been a restaurant since the building was built, requires minimum renovation. In addition to opening up the space and letting the light in, we plan to build an outdoor patio. With our own parking lot we can also host events. Frankly it's perfect.
Schedule
If we can fund this campaign and get into our renovations, we plan to open our doors in August. Here is a rough timeline (subject to the whims of Murphy's Law and Life in General) -
- June 1 - Sign the lease!
- June 1 - July 15 - Renovate!
- July 15 - August 1 - Final touches!
- August 2 - Soft opening!
- August 9 - Grand opening!

Look, we're not going to beg for support, that's just not our style. If there's one thing we do it's work hard, and that's what we're doing now and that's what we're going to do. Our food is amazing because we work hard and love what we do. We hope that our passion comes through in this campaign as much as it does in our day to day work at YCSF. But we would love your support, and we do need it. If we can raise the $25,000 we need to, we'll all be a little happier come August when YCSF is slinging the best tacos, burgers, fries and brunch that Amarillo can imagine. Thanks for your generous, beautiful support!
