The Story
After a tragedy in a rural hunting town, seven-year-old Hannah becomes curious about firearms, especially the ones her dad owns, finally asking him to teach her to hunt.
The idea for this film started out as a short story, What Lies Within Earshot, written by Claudia Schatz and brought to me by my producer Gustavo Sanabria. It tells the tale of a little girl, who after a tragedy in her family's remote town, becomes curious about hunting. It is a beautiful and timely story that connects with the broader issue of firearms in the United States, tackling the question of whether exposure to firearms at a young age can be valuable or detrimental. It also acts as a delicate drama that follows an innocent girl through a traumatic experience, and the discovery that follows.
We plan to shoot this film on 16mm film stock.

The Impact
This film is more than just about making our dream a reality; your contribution will help tell a tragic story that delves into a touchy subject within American culture. We aim to touch on the many issues surrounding firearms and the many youth who learn to shoot at a young age. We hope to provide a subtle yet beautiful story on how guns can impact lives, and how normalized they have become within society. It's a story we believe needs to be heard. ![]()
