I WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

My name is Josh Atchley, I created I Will Never Be The Same back in 2009.  Some backstory if you are interested, after many attempts with numerous bands and  shitty major record deals,  I decided it was time to create a passion project that I could pour my heart and soul into that was my own. So I set off to create something, a sound, a mood, also something I wanted to perform live. Although I wasn't even a vocalist. Actually I had never even recorded my own voice, never even written a lyric before. 

In 2009 I started creating music after-hours at a job I was working at a record label  as a graphic designer. And when no one was around, I loaded up my music software and got to work.  And over the next 3 months I created a full length album titled Standby. So nervous & scared to show my friends what I had made. I named the album Standby.

So eventually I hired some band members and finally played many local-based L.A. shows, all of the sudden I  had a residency at The Viper Room in L.A. and everything was really starting to gain some traction. But I was never good as a solo artist, talking about my music and promoting myself. It really all seemed so narcissistic. So I tried an experiment and attempt to let it spread virally. As I sat quiet. 

A few years later in 2012, I had shutdown a few ridiculous offers of bad major record deals. Only entertaining record label offers because I wanted to tour.  I had an itch to create a new album and show keep proving to myself I could dive even deeper into sound, which drove me to the next full length album Tornadoes. 

So I took a break from L.A. and went to a secluded mid-west U.S. tornado alley area with a portable studio and finished the album of demos I had accumulated.  Within a month of hard work, thunderstorms and intense seclusion it was done and back to L.A. to mixing and mastering.

So this new album Visitors, is definitely a new sound for IWNBTS. Its dark, somewhat beautiful, huge and yet pleasantly disturbing. It is a soundtrack to take you somewhere you have never been. 

The contributions you provide will help me kickstart my goal of:

• A DOUBLE EP - VISITORS I & II 

• A proper set of music video for the new album, which I have never done,  and I know how much YouTube/Vimeo is the vessel to bring artists to the public.
