inHUMANe Synopsis
A thriller short film about three friends on a camping vacation in Brazil. They go off the hiking trail at their hotel resort, and accidentally camped on a secret Russian military site called the Chemical Testing Facility (CTF). This facility conducts illegal experiments on the locals to test a new type of chemical weapon. But none of the test subjects are aware of the effects of the chemicals. Russian soldiers, hired by the CTF, confronts the three friends and force them to
cooperate by using extreme measures. Who will survive through the chaos of the CTF compound?
This is a short narrative film (15-20 minutes run time), and will be shot in Charlotte, NC. I was motivated to write this script after listening to my peers as they tell me their ideas for their next project. When you're around people with the same mindset as you, then you tend to come up with great innovations for a story. Movies like The Shining (1980), The Sixth Sense (1999), and Looper (2012), had a way to keep the audience guessing about what will happen to the characters. Viewing these films helped me to create that kind of atmosphere while writing the script. inHUMANe will have the same tension and suspense throughout the film.
My Story
My name is Michael Mitchell, and I've been a film enthusiast since a very young age. I am a film student at the Art Institute, and a huge fan of the Neo-Noir genres in film such as; Oldboy (2003), No Country For Old Men (2007), and Watchmen (2009). I have experience working on many short films and full feature productions. Most of these films were nominated and won many film festivals inside and outside the United States. One of the short films in which I acted and helped with the production is titled Evelyn Black. It was nominated and showcased at the Montreal International Film Festival, the New York Black Film Festival, the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, and won the Grand Jury Award at the Charlotte Black Film Festival.
I won the Grand Jury Award at the Manifesto Film Festival 2014 in Charlotte, NC with the narrative short music video called Say Goodnight. I helped write, direct, and gather professionals with the production of the film. After winning my first film festival, it created a new urge for me to continue making more films for the Film Festival markets. I have a passion for showcasing my vision to my audience, and know how to keep them guessing in my stories. This short film will do just that.
I want to present my next film to as many people in each film festival in 2015. But by being a highly motivated film students, this will be a hard journey for me to pursue my dream without the necessary funding. I would need $8,000 to start after the preproduction of this short film.
Each of your contributions will be used to pay for production fees for my cast, crew and miscellaneous items, filming equipment, and for any entry fees for film festivals. Every contribution I receive will garner perks for your support. You can receive a DVD of the film, t-shirts and other merchandise, a poster signed by the cast and crew, production stills, and even be mentioned in the credits of the film and website. Thank for taking the time to visiting the inHUMANe campaign, and I hope I can network with you with future projects.
