IRTE has been well reviewed. Critics have had the following to say:
"Completely unique...I died of laughter... If you're looking for a good night of fun, definitely check out IRTE!" - Heather Boddy, THESPI-HONEST
"...surprise-a-minute..." - Jay Lloyd, CBS Philly, KYW News Radio
"...their fun was infectious." - Geri Silver, Theatre is Easy
"It's remarkable how this ensemble is able to take the random given circumstances and masterfully weave them into a narrative by the end of the show... All the cast members have stage presence and you enjoy watching their creativity and spontaneity at work." - Lillian Rodriguez, Film Annex
Producing independent theater in New York City is neither cheap nor easy. At IRTE we work hard to make our season something special for all involved. In addition to developing, performing in and directing each show, our ensemble members also manage every other aspect of running a professional theater company, including video production, photography, promotions and marketing, handling our own budgeting and other operational tasks.
Your donations help make all of this possible. IRTE is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of IRTE must be made payable to "Fractured Atlas" only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
In 2015, our total expenses came to $7,413, which covered our regular season of 5 productions, each with 3 performances, plus additional productions at the Del Close Marathon and the Dream Up Festival here in New York City. This year our 4 original productions will enjoy 4 performances each, and we'll be adding even more productions at independent theater festivals both in New York and out of state.
More performances means more opportunities for audiences to enjoy what we do, and it also means more money going out for renting studio space for rehearsals ($170 for each production in 2015) and renting theater space and paying our tech crew for performances ($630 for each production in 2015). This does not include costs for costumes, props, and travel expenses - all of which are covered by the performers (us!).
Here's a snapshot of how we covered our expenses last year:
11% of our expenses made up our shortfall.
We'd love to see our shortfall disappear!
