was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease in March 2013, and has since made a full recovery!
The Mission of The Kawasaki Disease Foundation
The Kawasaki Disease Foundation exists to save lives through education and awareness. Kawasaki disease (KD), also known as Kawasaki syndrome, is a serious illness characterized by inflammation of blood vessels throughout the body that primarily affects young children and infants. Kawasaki disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. The Kawasaki Disease Foundation hosts events, support groups and ways for the public to learn more about the disease.
The Impact
It is estimated that more than 4,200 children are diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease in the U.S. each year. Timely diagnosis and treatment is is highly effective in preventing coronary complications. The Kawasaki Disease Foundation aims to educate and build awareness, through the funds it raises. The donation tiers and perks are as follows...
