Who I Am
I am the author of The Virgin Diaries and Ain't No Sunshine: Men Reveal the Pain of Heartbreak. In the spring of 2012, I had the opportunity to fight the War On Women as the spokeswoman for RTSV United. The We Are Woman March in Washington D.C. afforded me the opportunity to give a speech on women’s rights on the west lawn of the Capitol Building, where I was interviewed on camera for Al Jazeera English and by Kamala Lopez for a documentary about ratifying the ERA.
Summary
As yet untitled, this work in progress is dedicated to women’s rights and equality with an emphasis on the importance of voting. 2012 served to awaken feminists of all ages and genders. The intent of the author is to educate, motivate and inspire women, particularly young women, for they are the future and yet are among the most uninformed.
The 2012 election year was rife with politicians attacking reproductive issues, fair pay and equality. As RTSV spokeswoman and political blogger, I wrote about the issues and used my platform to insure that both genders were aware and could make informed decisions in the voting booth. Along the way, I received positive feedback and emails from men and women of all ages and backgrounds, thanking me for my voice and encouraging me to keep going.
I wish to share some of my experiences and insights, utilizing humor as well as providing information. The goal is to write a book that will appeal to youth and avoid a dry, textbook style approach. Humorous, shocking, inspiring, informative and encouraging are adjectives that aptly describe the book’s intent.
The mission is to release the book in the months before the 2014 midterm elections as well as making it widely available before the next presidential election in 2016 to achieve maximum impact.
What I Need & What You Get
All contributions will go to ARK Stories Publishing to cover the following costs:
- editing and proofreading
- cover design and formatting
- marketing, promotion and advertising
Presentation is important! An attractive cover and a well edited book are necessary components for success. To insure the widest possible eBook distribution, all eBook formats must be made available, so formatting for both the paperback and a variety of ePubs is crucial. Once the project is completed, a marketing campaign to launch the book is necessary to reach my target audience.
Depending on your contribution level, you may get:
- acknowledged in the book as a contributor
- a free copy of the eBook, paperback or a signed paperback
- an opportunity for a conversation with the author about her experiences in the women's movement
- copies of the titles in the ARK Stories catalog
