I love being an artist because it allows me to reimagine everything - including the way music gets into the hands of my fans.
Since 2010, I've been financially responsible for all of my projects, from recording to video production. I have learned so much and worked with some incredible people. But I’m now at point in the professional path where it takes more than my single income earnings to support my creation.
Being limited in cash has NEVER prevented me from creating, but it has prevented me from sharing that creation with you - and that doesn't fully serve anyone in the long run, because I don't just do this for me.
Your generous assistance means I can move up a level in my professional career by securing better resources and thus, give you more music.
Since I started releasing music in 2010, I have been financially responsible for all aspects of production, with the exception of one generous grant from FACTOR Canada. I continue to fund my own art, which allows me to write, collaborate, and hustle but it does not allow me to produce anything I can release publicly with any regularity. At this rate, I’m only producing a final product (including video) at the rate of less than one song per year.
Receiving your pledge will offer me access to more resources so that you get MORE music. I would love to make this album WITH YOU! This is the new reality of the music industry, where the fans get the product they want because they support it. What We Need & What You Get
The production team on this new album are the most accomplished music professionals I have worked with in my entire career. Working with them requires a minimum amount of money so that we can produce the album I hear in my head.
Here's a breakdown of costs:
I'll need approximately 8000 for recording, including track and vocal production, hiring of producers and mixing and mastering. My main producer on this album will be Jan Linder-Koda, who is also a Grammy Nominated songwriter. We'll also be recording with the legendary Marty Rifkin, who has played and recorded with Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and Jewel, to name but a few.
2000 will go toward manufacturing, which also includes the CD package design. The design will include original artwork by me and will be printed on recycled paper.
I plan to start with grassroots marketing, including the creation of a new website to support the promotion of this new album. I've been offered some wonderful promotional opportunities and I plan to take advantage of them! If I reach 10k and have the opportunity to do a stretch goal, I'll be asking for funds to make a music video for the first single off of the album.
I'll still be putting in thousands of dollars of my own money to this project. But every bit of help I get from you will guarantee it'll get it done and I'll get it out there.
When you choose a perk with the physical CD, you'll be getting a limited edition version! The version of the album to be delivered for this campaign will NEVER be printed again. And some will contain not only a CD but a painting signed by me. I started painting abstracts in acrylic in 2013 and sold my first painting to a New York collector in 2014. I'm thrilled to be able to combine two of my passions in one special package, just for you.
Perks include downloads and CDs as well as home-made perogies (yep, I know how to make 'em and they are damned good), a voice lesson with my Grammy Nominated producer, coaching sessions, Skype serenades, personalized voice mail messages, backstage access and original artworks by me. You can even come up with your own perks at the higher levels.
The Impact
I have a group of fans that check in with me every once in a while to ask, 'When is the next album coming out?' Other than releasing singles, I've often had to say: 'I don't know'. Thanks to you, I can say: mid 2015!
Not only will I be able to reach my existing community, but I'll develop an entirely new audience thanks to the skills and talents AND connections of my producers and collaborators and YOU. Many of you have asked, but the truth is, I've got no plans to compete on 'The Voice' or one of those 'Idol' shows. I know there is a larger audience for me out there, and this is the way I want to reach them - creating an album that represents me and my unique voice. Your pledges and willingness to spread the word will make that happen.
Risks & Challenges
I am a meticulous planner and highly organized but I can't deny Murphy's Law. Having said that, this is my second EP and I have immense gratitude for all I learned when I released my first EP in 2010.
The most obvious risk is not obtaining the funds I need, but that's where you come in. Thanks to your pledges, I'll be on track to send out your copy of my new album to you in mid 2015.
