La Carezza

Ognuno di noi ha avuto a che fare con la perdita di un proprio caro, con la difficoltà di esprimere i propri sentimenti e, magari, con il rimpianto di non averli espressi abbastanza, prima che fosse troppo tardi.
Questo corto, ispirato ad una storia vera, racconta l'incontro fra due personalità opposte: Cesare (Gabriel Montesi), il nuovo imperturbabile guardiano di un cimitero, e Mario, un amorevole e distinto signore di 76 anni. L’uno imparerà qualcosa dall’altro.
A volte ci si sente ridicoli ad essere dolci, a essere teneri in un mondo che ci vuole duri come la roccia, ma, quando si riesce a cedere alla delicatezza, il risultato è esplosivo.
Le storie non sono fatte per insegnare, e con questa non voglio insegnare nulla, ma raccontare di cosa può essere capace il cuore di un essere umano e di quanto un gesto che, può sembrare insignificante, possa impattare su un altro uomo.
Chi sono
Sono Raffaele Grasso, ho studiato cinema a Roma, sono laureato in Forme e modelli del cinema Italiano con il massimo dei voti, diplomato in regia cinematografica all'Accademia del Cinema Renoir, e ho frequentato il Master di Sceneggiatura e Produzione della Sapienza.
Lavoro come Assistente alla Regia e grazie a questo mestiere ho avuto l'onore di lavorare sulla serie tv di Marco Bellocchio Esterno Notte con Fabrizio Gifuni, Toni Servillo, Margherita Buy, sul corto di Luca Guadagnino O Night Divine con John C. Reilly e Alex Wolff, sul film di Francesca Marino Blackout Love con Anna Foglietta e recentemente sul film Felicità di Micaela Ramazzotti.
Ho scritto e diretto diversi cortometraggi raccogliendo selezioni e premi in molti festival, uno di questi, Agnes è in streaming su Rai Play. Ho vinto un premio per la migliore sceneggiatura al festival Inventa un Film di Lenola 2021, e un mio script per corto animato è arrivato in cinquina finalista al Premio InediTo 2021.
Sui vari set ho avuto la fortuna di incontrare dei grandi professionisti e belle persone, alcune sono diventate amiche, e molti di loro contribuiranno alla realizzazione del corto facendo parte della troupe.
E quindi?
"La Carezza" ha già vinto un bando per la realizzazione con l'associazione MotoreAzione che per prima ha creduto nella storia, e a questo punto vi starete domandando: allora perché sei qui a chiederci un'ulteriore mano?
Questo corto rappresenta un'importante tappa del mio percorso professionale da regista e per questo sto investendo tutte le mie forze, ma quelle economiche non sono abbastanza per sostenere tutti i costi del set e della produzione.
Sia io che i giovani professionisti che faranno parte della squadra, vogliamo realizzare un lavoro che sia ambizioso, emozionante e pregno della passione che ci muove lungo il percorso professionale che abbiamo scelto, e per raccontare al meglio questa storia abbiamo bisogno anche dell'aiuto di ognuno di voi.

E la storia?
Lockdown. Cesare è il nuovo guardiano del cimitero e Mario, un signore d'altri tempi, sembra ignorare il fatto di non poter entrare. Cesare dovrà convincersi ad aprire il cancello; quello che succederà dopo cambierà per molto tempo il suo modo di vedere il mondo.
Il cast e la crew
Gabriel Montesi, nel ruolo di Cesare. Ottiene i primi ruoli in produzioni televisive come Un medico in famiglia e Il restauratore. Il debutto cinematografico avviene nel 2014 con una piccola parte in Pasolini di Abel Ferrara. Nel 2019 inizia a ottenere i primi ruoli importanti, come ne Il primo re di Matteo Rovere, in Favolacce dei fratelli D'Innocenzo, nella serie tv Sky Christian diretta da Stefano Lodovichi, Roberto Saku Cinardi. Sarà poi diretto da Marco Bellocchio nella serie tv Esterno Notte (2022) presentata in anteprima a Cannes.
Roberto Ostuni (Direttore della fotografia), si Laurea al DAMS di RomaTre e nel 2012, si diploma alla UCLA Extension di Los Angeles in Cinematography, qui comincia la sua carriera come DOP. In Italia lavora in pubblicità per brand come Caffè Borbone, Suzuki, Samsung, Action Aid, e su cortometraggi, film e documentari. DOP di riferimento della The Jackal, società di produzione napoletana, nel 2021 realizza il film Horror Comedy (titolo provvisorio) prodotto da Gaetano Di Vaio per Bronx film che nel 2022 uscirà in sala e in piattaforma. A Roma lavora come DOP con EFC e a Milano con Utopia, casa di produzione interna a M&C Saatchi e all'attivo ha più di quindici cortometraggi girati tra gli Usa e l'Italia. Uno di questi, L'arte tutta femminile di perdere la vita con grazia di Marina Rocco, gli ha permesso di vincere il premio per la miglior fotografia ai Best NFMLA 2019, una rassegna di corti internazionale che si tiene a Los Angeles. Alcuni dei corti di cui ha curato la fotografia sono disponibili su Rai Play e Amazon Prime Video.
Tommaso Marchesi (Montatore), studia Editing and Post Production alla Ravensbourne University di Londra e si laurea con il massimo dei voti. Inizia a lavorare già durante gli studi come assistente al montaggio su film come: Un giorno All’improvviso (Ciro D’Emilio, Venezia), Siberia (Abel Ferrara, Berlino), I Predatori (Pietro Castellitto, Venezia), Zeros and Ones (Abel Ferrara, Locarno). Lavora come montatore per svariati cortometraggi e nel 2021 pre-monta The Bunker Game opera prima di Roberto Zazzara e collabora con Desideria Rayner (Ricordi?, Magari) al montaggio del documentario prodotto da Lucky Red No Tenemos Miedo. La possibilità di poter cambiare completamente una storia compiendo una scelta precisa è ciò che lo affascina.

The Caress
Each of us has had to deal with the loss of a loved one, with the difficulty of expressing our feelings and, perhaps, with the regret of not having expressed them enough, before it was too late.
This short, inspired by a true story, tells the encounter between two opposite personalities: Cesare (Gabriel Montesi), the new imperturbable guardian of a cemetery, and Mario, a loving and distinguished 76-year-old gentleman. One will learn something from the other.
Sometimes it feels ridiculous to be sweet, to be tender in a world that wants us to be rock hard, but when you can give in to delicacy, the result is explosive.
Stories are not made to teach, and with this I don't want to teach anything, but to tell what the heart of a human being can be capable of and how much a gesture that, may seem insignificant, can impact on another man.
Who I am
I am Raffaele Grasso, I studied cinema in Rome, I graduated in Forms and Models of Italian cinema with the highest marks, I graduated in film direction at the Renoir Cinema Academy, and I attended the Master of Screenwriting and Production of Sapienza.
I work as Assistant Director and thanks to this job I had the honor of working on the TV series by Marco Bellocchio Exterior Night with Fabrizio Gifuni, Toni Servillo, Margherita Buy, on the short film by Luca Guadagnino O Night Divine with John C. Reilly and Alex Wolff, on the film by Francesca Marino Blackout Love with Anna Foglietta and recently on the film Happiness by Micaela Ramazzotti.
I wrote and directed several short films, collecting selections and awards in many festivals, one of these, Agnes is streaming on Rai Play. I won an award for best screenplay at the 2021 Inventa un Film di Lenola festival, and one of my animated short scripts made it into the five finalists for the 2021 InediTo Award.
On the various sets I was lucky enough to meet great professionals and beautiful people, some have become friends, and many of them will contribute to the making of the short by being part of the crew.
So what?
"La Carezza" has already won a tender for the realization with the MotoriAzione association which was the first to believe in history, and at this point you are wondering: then why are you here asking us for a further hand?
This short represents an important stage in my professional career as a director and for this I am investing all my strength, but the economic ones are not enough to support all the costs of the set and the production.
Both I and the young professionals who will be part of the team, we want to carry out a job that is ambitious, exciting and full of the passion that moves us along the professional path we have chosen, and to best tell this story we also need the help of each one of you.

The story?

The cast and crew
