“La Nueva” es un cortometraje de terror que hunde sus raíces en los años 70, una época en la cual el género buscaba superar su propia condición y acceder a un público más amplio, interesado también en que esas historias tuvieron un trasfondo y una gran carga emocional.
Se trata de una historia que transcurre en un colegio, un lugar de enseñanza que acaba por convertirse en una pesadilla y donde un grupo de chicos, acostumbrados a salirse con la suya, verán como sus vidas se convierten en un infierno durante una clase de castigo .
A lo largo de todo el cortometraje, mantendremos una tensión constante, casi asfixiante, una montaña rusa de intensidad, giros y emociones que nos acabará llevando a una resolución final donde el espectador sacará conclusiones claras sobre la atracción que provoca el mal. Sobre cómo se crean los monstruos.
Intensidad es la palabra clave. Desde el primer minuto al último, el espectador se verá sumergido en una burbuja de terror que le hará disfrutar, sufrir y finalmente reflexionar. Una historia donde todos podemos vernos reflejados y que nos mantendrá pegados al asiento y sin poder quitar ojo de la pantalla. Un viaje cargado de homenajes para amantes del terror.

"La Nueva" is a horror short film that has its roots in the 70's, a period in which the genre sought to surpass its own condition and access a wider audience, also interested in those stories having a background and a great emotional charge.
It is a story that takes place in a school, a place of learning that ends up becoming a nightmare and where a group of kids, used to getting their own way, will see how their lives become a living hell during a punishment class.
Throughout the entire short film, we will maintain a constant tension, almost suffocating, a roller coaster of intensity, twists and turns of emotions that will eventually lead us to a final resolution where the viewer will draw clear conclusions about the attraction that causes evil, how monsters are created.
Intensity is the key word. From the first minute to the last, the viewer will be immersed in a bubble of terror, which will make him enjoy, suffer, and finally reflect. A story where we can all see ourselves reflected and that will keep us glued to the seat and unable to take our eyes off the screen. A journey full of tributes for horror lovers.

DIRECTOR Y GUIONISTA / DIRECTOR AND WRITER
IVÁN VILLAMEL
Director y Guionista. Cortometrajista con una exitosa trayectoria en el cine de género. Apasionado del cine en general, y del terror en particular.
Con sus dos cortometrajes anteriores, “Refugio 115” y “Mr.Dentonn”, alcanza la cifra de más de 750 selecciones en festivales internacionales, acumulando entre ambos cortometrajes cerca de 200 premios. Precisamente con este último, “Mr.Dentonn”, obtiene una gran repercusión en medios nacionales e internacionales al convertirse en su momento en el cortometraje de terror más premiado y seleccionado de la historia a nivel mundial.
Amante del análisis de lenguaje cinematográfico y de sus formas, ha trabajado también en diversos festivales de cortometrajes como seleccionador y/o programador (Madterrorfest, Acocollona't, Cortópolis).

RAÚL CEREZO
Raúl Cerezo (Madrid, 1976) es director, productor y guionista. Fundador de la productora cinematográfica de género Eye Slice Pictures junto a Helion Ramalho, Raúl Cerezo es una figura clave y reconocida en el mundo del cortometraje y el fantaterror español, habiendo producido más de un centenar de obras y dirigido títulos emblemáticos como “Escarnio” u “8”, ganador del Melies d’argent y del premio Paul Naschy en el Festival de Sitges, entre otros muchos reconocimientos.
Su debut en el largometraje llega con “La Pasajera”, obra que tuvo su premiere en el Festival de Sitges tras su paso por el “Fantastic 7” del Festival de Cannes, la cual dirige junto a Fernando González Gómez y película donde también es creador de la idea original y coproductor. Distribuye LEVEL K, importante distribuidora danesa. En Febrero del 2022 será estrenada en los cines españoles.
Asimismo, Cerezo ha rodado y coescrito ya su segunda película, “Viejos”, de nuevo en codirección con Fernando González Gómez, que llegará de la mano de Filmax en el 2022. También ha rodado “El Semblante”, ambicioso corto de época que codirige con Carlos Moriana y se distribuirá en el 2022.

Raúl Cerezo is a director, producer and screenwriter. Founder of the genre film production company Eye Slice Pictures together with Helion Ramalho, Raúl Cerezo is a key and recognized figure in the world of short films and Spanish fantaterror, having produced more than a hundred works and directed emblematic titles such as "Escarnio" or "8", winner of the Melies d'argent and the Paul Naschy Award at the Sitges Festival, among many other awards.
His feature film debut comes with "La Pasajera", a work that had its premiere at the Sitges Film Festival after its participation in the "Fantastic 7" at the Cannes Film Festival, which he directs together with Fernando González Gómez and where he is also the creator of the original idea and co-producer. It is distributed by LEVEL K, an important Danish distributor. In February 2022 it will be released in Spanish theaters.

NOTAS DE DIRECCIÓN / DIRECTOR'S NOTE OF INTENT
“La Nueva” habla del poder del mal, de cómo nos transforma y nos puede llevar a lo más oscuro y profundo del alma humana. Esto se verá reflejado en una puesta en escena donde cada vez aislemos más a los personajes, con una elección de planos donde el espacio sea cada vez más asfixiante, usando ángulos de cámara muy agresivos.
Para plasmar en imágenes el guion que tenemos entre manos, es clave transformar un espacio cotidiano como una escuela, en un lugar amenazante, donde cada elemento del lugar pueda ser usado de forma terrorífica, incluso los elementos más comunes; una pizarra, una tiza, un pupitre, etc.
Una visión cinematográfica cargada de humor negro, pasando de un espacio común y familiar a un lugar infernal en cuestión de segundos. Transfigurar el espacio para llevar las emociones de los personajes al límite de su resistencia.
Jugaremos expresivamente con el color, dotando a cada personaje de un estado emocional en función a sus sentimientos y cómo dicho color puede ir cambiando a medida que cambien ellos, en pequeños detalles pero muy significativos a nivel cinematográfico.
Además, la iluminación será uno de los platos fuertes del proyecto, con una expresividad extrema. Partiremos de un lugar bello a un tipo de luz cada vez más cálida e intensa, con la idea de llevar a nuestros personajes al infierno que están a punto de vivir, la luz del infierno.

"La Nueva" talks about the power of evil, how it transforms us and can take us to the darkest and deepest part of the human soul.
This will be reflected in a mise-en-scene where we isolate the characters more and more, with a choice of shots where the space is increasingly suffocating, using very aggressive camera angles.
To capture in images the script we have in our hands, it is key to transform an everyday space like a school into a threatening place, where every element of the place can be used in a terrifying way, even the most common elements, a blackboard, a chalk, a desk, etc.
A cinematic vision loaded with black humor, going from a common and familiar space to a hellish place in a matter of seconds. Transfiguring the space to take the emotions of the characters to the limit of their resistance.
We will play expressively with color, giving each character an emotional state according to their feelings and how this color can change as they change, in small details but very significant cinematographically.
In addition, the lighting will be one of the highlights of the project, with an extreme expressiveness. We will start from a beautiful place to a type of increasingly warm and intense light, with the idea of taking our characters to the hell they are about to live, the light of hell.

LAS CLAVES DEL PROYECTO / KEYS TO THE PROJECT
Como buenos “fans” del cine de terror de los años 70, “Carrie” será uno de nuestros referentes, sobretodo en su acertada reflexión sobre la adolescencia, ese momento donde las vivencias son tan inestables, tan cambiantes de una persona a otra, con contrastes muy fuertes dependiendo del bando que te ha tocado vivir.
“El Exorcista” es otro claro referente para nuestro cortometraje. De ella nos gusta mucho su capacidad para llegar progresivamente al mal, de convertirlo casi en una enfermedad que va creciendo en tu interior como una infección, y que puede estar provocada por diversos motivos personales o incluso simbólicos.
Como no podía ser de otra manera, dado el amor que profesan los dos autores del proyecto por su obra, John Carpenter y su “Halloween” es otro de los referentes indispensables para el cortometraje. Sobretodo en su capacidad para transformar un espacio seguro en un lugar terrorífico, pasar del lugar donde quieres estar a ser el lugar del cual quieres huir. Y además, hacerlo con un trabajo visual donde el minimalismo no evite cierto virtuosismo con la cámara.

"The Exorcist" is another clear reference for our short film. We really like its ability to progressively reach the evil, to turn it almost into a disease that grows inside you like an infection, and that can be caused by various personal or even symbolic reasons.
As it could not be otherwise, given the love that the two authors of the project profess for their work, John Carpenter and his "Halloween" is another indispensable reference for the short film. Especially in its ability to transform a safe space into a terrifying place, going from the place where you want to be to the place you want to run away from. And furthermore, to do it with a visual work where minimalism does not avoid a certain virtuosity with the camera.

Fundada en 2018 en Madrid por Helion Ramalho y Raúl Cerezo, EYE SLICE es una casa creadora de sueños y pesadillas cinematográficas. El foco principal de la productora es el desarrollo estratégico, la producción y la financiación de películas y series de terror, fantástico y ciencia ficción.
