The Story
Written by Philomena Pilon, Law of the Land is a story about men, women, and family, told against the backdrop of the late 1800s in California.
Our story is centered around Caroline, her son, Lionel, and their life on their farm. When Lionel's father, Elliot, returns after a long absence, he plans to take Lionel from the farm. Caroline stands up to Elliot, fighting for her family and her life.
A Note From The Director
This story is important to me because the characters showcase different aspects of humanity. From the beauty of true femininity and the way in which it impacts masculinity to the importance of motherhood and the value of life.
Using the backdrop of the Old West allows us to explore the ways in which people had a level of dependency that isn’t as common in today’s culture. The mother and the son’s relationship isn’t impacted by technology but by real forces that threaten their existence.
I’m excited to bring this story to the screen with your support.
