About the Author
"Meet Iron Liz" Vidoe Introduction
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to give Lightbringer: Genesis consideration for your support! Even if you decide not to back the project, please consider spreading the word to others, so we can make this comic happen!
But I suppose introductions are in order! First up, writer Iron Liz Skochil. You might remember her from her online tabletop RPG review show “The Pen and Paper Corner” on Channel Awesome, as a side character on Lewis Lovhaug’s comic review show “Atop the 4th Wall,” or her cameo as Cloak #2 in the Channel Awesome Anniversary movie, “Suburban Knights.” But you see, the Lightbringer story doesn’t actually begin with her. It begins with the idea’s original creator, Lewis Lovhaug. He originally released it as a self-published webcomic, with his original superhero concept known as The Lightbringer. The original comic was criticized at the time for its controversial themes and subject matter, and Mr. Lovhaug would later release the Lightbringer Intellectual Property into public domain in 2013. But despite its roots, Liz has always believed in Lightbringer, and she believes there’s an excellent story in the making with the original idea. This project is by no means a remake, or a remaster! Instead, Liz has written a fully original story taking inspiration from the original Lightbringer setting, and altering the characters and story to give the underlying thematic concepts the serious consideration it deserves. This comic is by no means a parody or critique of the original work, but rather is a rework with a talented artist and properly paced story, to reveal the origins of Pharos City newest superhero… the Lightbringer!
About the Artist
Vic King is a long-time staple and supporter in the community, known as Comicsgate. His contributions to campaigns as well as campaigns of his own, makes Vic one of the hardest working artists, not only in CG, but in comics in general. With variant covers for Wart the Wizard and Hunting Alice, to main artist on projects like ASYL, Artifice, Re-Animate and Melvin 2 (just to name a few), Vic's art and style are not only recognizable, but widely sought after.
About the Publisher
Screenname turned publisher, Anthony Romano has been a long-time supporter and promoter of Comicsgate, and indie comics in general. Considered a super backer by purchasing and supporting many campaigns, he took the leap from fan to creator with his contribution to Wart the Wizard in the form of the ashcan, Sunday Follies. He then released an art book on Lulu.com, to diving in with his first campaign, HUNTING ALICE. Branching out to now publishing books for others, the first of which is Lightbringer: Genesis, the dream his adolescent self had is coming to fruition
What We Need & What You Get
But the project needs your help in order to be fully realized! While Liz has completed a 32 page script, she requires the funds to pay the artist, Vic King, to complete all the required artwork of the remaining portion of the book (10 pages have been paid for and completed), and for DarkGift Comics to help me manage and distribute the finished comic. Your support of a single dollar, all the way up to our highest tier of “Searing Light of Justice” will give us the resources (and the audience) we need to make Lighrbringer shine with renewed vigor! And who knows? If this project is successful and we develop the audience for it, this comic just might be the beginning for a brand new Lightbringer series, and expanded universe with its characters. But we can’t get there first, without your help! So please consider backing the campaign, and thanks again for your time and consideration! So let’s bring this project ‘out of the darkness… and into the light!”
