About Our Film
Loudmouth is the story of Dayveon, a 12-year-old boy who is coming to terms with a personal tragedy. Torn between a loving sister who has become his sole caretaker and the sense of camaraderie offered by his local gang, Dayveon is forced to make decisions that threaten to rob him of his innocence. Taking place over the course of a few short days, Loudmouth explores Dayveon’s journey through his initiation and his first few days of gang membership.

Inspiration
Loudmouth was inspired by research on the conditions of America’s marginalized communities and a commitment by the creative team to tell vivid stories that dig deep into what it means to be American. Our goal as storytellers is to create portraits of people that complicate our understanding of ourselves and one another. Loudmouth strives to be such a story. The Loudmouth team hopes to tell a story that is impactful for its viewers but one that also provides a voice to a group that is oftentimes marginalized by the larger media.

As we worked to bring
Loudmouth to life, it became clear that despite Dayveon's surroundings, his life was rich in
both visual and emotional beauty. Exposing the true texture of Dayveon's experience has been extremely rewarding and we hope to share that beauty with you. How You Can Help

Amman Abbasi - Director
Growing up in America as the son of Pakistani immigrants, I have seen untold American stories and I have loved and appreciated films that tell these stories. My time working under internationally recognized journalists Brent & Craig Renaud and critically acclaimed filmmaker David Gordon Green has taught me that storytelling should showcase subjects often overlooked and people who are often voiceless; stories from that untold America. Roger Ebert defined film as a machine that generates empathy and I couldn’t agree more. As a child, I first became attracted to filmmaking as a storytelling tool. I love film’s ability to provide a glimpse into other people’s lives and narratives, and how it allows us to be more compassionate to one another. LOUDMOUTH, our feature narrative film, will do exactly that.

Steven Reneau - co-writer/producer
I am an American storyteller based in Los
Angeles, California. Good storytelling has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I've always been fascinated by the power that stories have to captivate, and even
change, a reader, listener, or viewer. As a filmmaker, my
goal is to develop stories that challenge and complicate our understanding of
the world around us. By presenting unique viewpoints on American life I hope to create work
that furthers the conversation about what it means to be American. Loudmouth is a film that does exactly that by showing the reality of life in rural America and exposing is beauty and complexity.
Dustin Lane - Director of Photography
