Happy St. Paddy's Day everybody! Here's a cover of one of our favorite irish songs!!
Our goal is to finish our first 5 song EP of our original music!
-
We have both dedicated our lives to music and to this day we still devote everything we have to it. We are not signed with any labels and we are not receiving help of any kind from anyone. We write all of our own music and record as much of it as we can in our home studio, then we teach voice, guitar, piano, and perform to pay for our recordings to be finished. We also do all of our own booking and promoting as well.
-
The problem is, it takes a really long time to get anything done paying for it all with whatever little income we have on our own. That's where you come in!! With your donations you will help support our passion for music and we will finally be able to have enough money to finish our EP and share our music with the world!!
About Matt & JuJu
Matt
and JuJu met as part of a group of neighborhood kids that frequented
cul-de-sacs during the long summer nights of Thousand Oaks, CA in the
late nineties. Reunited as adults, each became musicians in their own
right, now collaborating as a music duo that produces a unique
combination of organic instruments, sultry jazz melodies, and
intricate harmonies. Through their formative years, each developed
their own musical skills and tastes: Matt picked up the guitar at a
very young age, and eventually became a vocalist as well, with
wide-ranging influences in Rock music from Eric Clapton to Jimi
Hendrix, and Elvis to Tom Waits, as well as a background in heavy
metal, such as Children of Bodom, Gojira and Pantera. Matt has an
extensive performance history, including a band with Bruce Boulliet
(The Scream, Racer X) and The Changing with Kalen Chase (Korn). JuJu
grew up as part of a singing quartet with her sisters—a background
heavy in performance beginning at the ripe age of two. As she grew
older, JuJu started accompanying herself with the piano and expanded
her repertoire, studying such innovative artists as jazz legend
Billie Holiday, soul singer Janis Joplin, and the voice of British
rock, Freddy Mercury. By the time JuJu was eighteen, she had played
over a thousand shows at many different venues, attended meetings at
the highest levels of several studios, including Columbia
TriStar, MTV,
Disney,
abc,
and Fox,
and had eaten watermelon on the floor with Quincy Jones at his home
while he told her sister group they would be “the next Boyz II
Men.” With these unique and extensive music backgrounds, Matt and
JuJu bring together a collection of contacts, styles, and performance
repertoires to create raw, grungy rock-blues songwriting with a
“modern burlesque” vibe. Their new single, “Chain Reaction”
released October 2013 features bassist John “Spazz” Hatton (Brian
Setzer Orchestra) and drummer Gary Mallaber (Steve Miller Band, Bruce
Springsteen, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Cher and America).
What We Need
We are trying to finish our 5 song EP and it will take $4,451 to do it! We already finished one song on our own so you can see an example of what we sound like!
In addition to the full production recording, we like to make an acoustic version of each song as well, to show our fans what it usually sounds like live because most of the time it's just the two of us!
It will take about $1,000 a song and here's why!
$500
-$250 for each musician to play on the recording, (and it usually takes 2 musicians for each song to get the sound we want)
$250
-To make the acoustic version/video
$250
-To get the song mixed and mastered
$451
-The extra $451 is what Indiegogo gets for letting us do this campaign
(Also we will be contributing as much money as we can ourselves)
Music has drastically helped us through out our lives, whether it has been through the struggles or the celebrations, and we know that it helps so many others as well. We want to keep contributing to the world through music because we know how important it is, and we appreciate any support in helping us achieve our goal!
