Meals to Heal's mission is to make the lives of cancer patients and their caregivers easier and less stressful by providing them with services that relieve them of the significant time, energy and worry associated with ensuring proper nutrition for themselves and for their loved ones.

• I started Meals to Heal after losing a close friend to a brain tumor. During that experience, I learned that nutritional issues are indicated in 50% to 80% of all cancer cases and, if treated, clinical and quality of life outcomes improve. Malnutrition is the #2 secondary diagnosis in cancer patients and 1/3 of all cancer deaths are due to severe malnutrition.  Many cancer patients find getting proper nutrition difficult because a) their side effects make them tired and unable to prepare healthy meals, b) information available on the internet is confusing and conflicting and c) 80% of patients never see a registered dietitian.  As a result, many lose weight and become malnourished making it difficult to continue to stay on treatment and to handle treatment's harsh side effects.  Home meal delivery and nutrition support services like those offered by Meals to Heal help cancer patients maintain nutritional health which helps them continue to stay on treatment, to respond better to their treatment and to feel better while going through treatment.

What We Need & What You Get

• Meals to Heal offers three services designed specifically for cancer patients -- a) home delivery of fresh, nutritious customized meals, b) safe, evidence-based cancer nutrition information and c) nutritional counseling.  The funds we are raising will be invested in:
  
• marketing, helping us to reach more cancer patients and cancer caregivers letting them know that there is a service designed specifically for their needs; 
• developing more meals and other services based on what cancer patients and caregivers tell us they want and need;
• continuing to make our ecommerce ordering platform a seamless and easy-to-use site;
• hiring more of the leading oncology-trained registered dietitians to help us expand the free content that we offer on our website and to provide nutritional counseling to cancer patients.
