Welcome to the Darke Karnivale
Metanoia is a moment in Avinn’s life. A moment of existential angst. A moment where pasts and futures collide. Bound to her role as a back up dancer within the Darke Karnivale, Avinn mourns her inability to separate delusion from reality and unashamedly discover her true self. She struggles to accept the love of Ringmaster Chester and cannot reconcile the presence of their unborn child with her insecurities and lack of self worth inflicted by the other carnival performers. Choice and consequence create an overwhelming spiral of possibilities; Avinn must face the crippling darkness of her inner void to conquer her troubled existence and decide upon her future.
Hi! We're Stef, Brooke and Britt, the writer/director and co-producers of Metanoia. This short film is Stef's Honours project that brings together a love of early silent cinema, a curiosity of psychological horror and experimental filmmaking, and a fascination with elements of melodrama and dance.
After completing our journey through pre production, production and post, we are now seeking funds to help us take our film around the world through film festivals.
And of course, no film can be made without a dedicated crew behind it -- head to our website www.metanoiashortfilm.com to check out our incredibly talented crew! Without their hard work and creativity, our little film wouldn't have come to life, nor be as beautiful as it is. It will be wonderful to showcase their work at festivals around the world!
Here's some of our previous work! Watch the trailer for our graduate film Isadore, which we were lucky enough to travel with to Cannes Film Festival in France, where it had its world premiere.
The all important part of how we will love, appreciate and use your contributions with the films best intentions at heart! We are raising funds for marketing & distribution. After funding the film's production phase from our own pockets we need a bit of help to get it out there for the world to see. This is how we plan on doing it:
We understand people aren’t made of money, believe us we know! So if you’re in a bit of a tough spot, we hope things get better for you soon!
To support us in other ways, you can give us a like and share on Facebook and Instagram, check out our website and share our journey with your family and friends. We truly appreciate your support - films are made to be seen, and it is through your kindness and interest that this happens!
If there is anything you'd like to ask us about, please don't hesitate to contact us. We love a good chat!
