Update!
Thank you for helping us reach our goal earlier this week! We appreciate all the support from our family and friends and thought we'd take this opportunity to offer add an additional option to help us support our projects. We are recording the Navajo Mandala by Kerry Turner this August with the Phoenix Chamber Brass and are hoping to raise an additional $500 to help fund this recording. Digital downloads will be available at the same time as our CD release and will be included on any funding contribution given before or after this update!
Navajo Mandala by Kerry Turner
![]()
Commissioned
by the United States Air Forces in Europe Band. It is a sonic depiction
of a mandala that was created by Navajo Indians. The symmetric,
labyrinth-like circular patterns of the mandala are paralleled in this
interesting piece for combined woodwind and brass quintets and
percussion. Mill Ave Chamber Players and Phoenix Chamber Brass gave the
US premiere of this work in 2012 at the Southwest Horn Conference and
will record it this fall in Phoenix, Arizona!
Short Summary
The Mill Ave Chamber Players has spent the 2013-2014 performing transcriptions of works for string quartet, brass quintet, and piano. We look forward to sharing these works with a wider audience by recording our first CD!
As individual members of the ensemble, we are each contributing to the success of the CD, and hoping that this campaign will help us fund the remainder of the project.
This CD will include MACP members: Monica Anthony (flute),Nikolaus Flickinger (oboe),Erin Finkelstein (clarinet), Rose French (horn), and guest artist David Wells (bassoon). Dr. Wells joins us from Sacramento, CA and performed with the Mill Ave Chamber Players during their residency at the University of the Pacific in March 2014.
As a thank you for your contribution, we are offering various gifts, including a copy of the CD, based upon your level of support.
This recording will take place in June 2014 and the CD will be available in September 2014, during our CD release party. After that, we will mail all CDs and other great thank you items to our financial backers of this project!
THANK YOU!
