MoonShine Bar
MoonShine Bar is our second The Golden Guy art bar. Each bar is an interactive, community based art project on it's own. Last year we built the Crow Bar, a huge success, intense fun with profound encounters . This year we are inspired by the heavens and the entrepreneurial spirit of back woods distillers. Our mission is to provide intimate and outrageous lunar connections and conversations by creating a small, but transcendent lunar environment in which we provide fun and inspiring nightly programs.
Us
MoonShine Bar is being created by a pod in the WeCharge! (used to be beeCharge!!!) camp. The camp has a long history of bringing incredible community and experiential art projects to the Playa. We're artists, performers, builders, servers, organizers and fun lovers.
Your Support
Practically, your support for MoonShine Bar will go towards building materials, art supplies, and transportation costs to and from the Playa. More importantly, your support enables us to bring real, serious and down to earth "lunacy" to everyone at Burning Man.
The Golden Guy and MoonShine Bar
The Golden Guy is modeled after a small and eclectic neighborhood called Golden Gai bars in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Each of the bars is only 8’x12’, guaranteeing intimate experiences for all patrons. Last year we had five bars, this year closer to two dozen, each very offering unique intimate experiences.
MoonShine Bar is inspired by the full moon that will rise the first night of Burning Man. The bar roof will have a linear opening that tracks the path of the moon through the night sky, lighting the bar with natural moon light. From the outside, MoonShine Bar will appear as a backwoods still. But, when you enter, you step from Black Rock Kentucky to the surface of the moon, looking back at our own planet earth. If you look closely, you can see the Black Rock Desert.
Throughout the week, MoonShine Bar will be the "lunacy" hub, including the MoonShine cocktail, (with real moonshine, of course), moonwalking contests, flat earth theories, toasts to Yuri Gagarin, extra terrestrial DJs, videos, and so much more ...the skies the limit.
