“When individuals join in a cooperative venture, the power generated far exceeds what they could have accomplished acting individually.” — Bucky Fuller
My name is Benjamin Lowder, I am the Creative Director for the, Buckminster Fuller -
designed, Center for Spirituality and Sustainability. I first visited the geodesic domed Center on the campus of Southern Illinois University when I'd been invited to the university to talk about my experience with sustainable home design. I stopped by the Center while on campus for my talk and that visit had a profound effect on me. The Center provides such a strong sense of place and purpose to its visitors that I became committed to finding ways of sharing that feeling and further promoting the legacy of Buckminster Fuller.

This year the Center experienced flooding from excessive spring rains and the translucent dome has developed some leaks, so it is vital to the Center's future that you vote with your dollars in support of this project. You can read more about Buckminster Fuller's intention for the Center in his essay,
Geoview:
- The challenge of our time is transitioning the Earth's human population towards global sustainability.
- Buckminster Fuller is the father of this movement towards global sustainability.
- The Center for Spirituality & Sustainability is the living embodiment of Fuller's legacy.
The Center's geodesic dome straddles the Earth's 90th Meridian. This meridian is also used by Fuller as the central reference point of his famous Dymaxion Map.
Murals on the Meridian uses the 90th Meridian to extend Fuller's vision beyond the Center's dome by creating a series of art installations along the 90th Meridian as it passes through the United States.
On the 90th Day of 2015 (3/31/15) on the 90th Meridian, a group of artists from around the world, known as the Meridian Artists, will come together on this project to bring awareness to Fuller's legacy and promote healing through the painting of murals on large monoliths to be installed at seven key locations that reference the seven chakras of the Eastern healing tradition. The 2015 Meridian Artists are:
Murals on the Meridian will establish "90th Day" as an annual day to celebrate global unity and express love for the planet that nurtures us.
Each of the Meridian Artists are also creating artwork that will be made into a limited addition series of prints to be available for sale on the 90th Day of 2015. The funds raised from the sale of those prints will go towards the preservation of the Center for Spirituality & Sustainabilty as well as paying for programming and speakers at the Center, to further the Center's mission. A donation will also be made to the local chapters of the Sierra Club at each of the seven Murals on the Meridian locations. The money raised from this crowd funding campaign goes toward the production of the murals and the monoliths. In the event that Murals on the Meridian doesn't occur in 2015 for some unforseen reason, the funds raised by this campaign will go to the Center for Spirituality and Sustainabilty as well as the seven local chapters of the Sierra Club.
Building on the vision of Buckminster Fuller, this project provides people a way to participate with each other in a global celebration of our collective responsibility to be the guardians of this planet.

(pictured above is an example of the limited addition poster provided by this campaign as a premium gift. The 7 chakra symbols seen in this poster, are unique to this project, and they are what the sticker set gift is created from.)
The premium gifts offered by this campaign provide you with a way to engage in the project regardless of your location on the planet. Since the artwork produced by this project is intended to act as tools to cultivate healing thought intention directed toward us and the planet, the gifts to our participants are also intended to be talismans that support the mission of this project.
Please remember that sharing this campaign with your friends, using the Iniegogo sharing tools, is an important gift to the project as well. THANK YOU!
