The Story:

A recent college graduate moves to a small town just outside of Cleveland with the goal of returning a notebook of personal importance to someone in the town. Soon after moving in, her house is broken into and the notebook is stolen. This puts her on a quest of sorts to locate the missing notebook and return it to its original owner.  She makes a deal to help a group of college kids raise money for a firework show in memory of their recently deceased friend and in honor of Tom Cruise's July 3rd birthday. In return, they agree to help her find the notebook.

Along the way she encounters interesting characters: a possibly time traveling grandmother, a Nic Cage lookalike, Da Vinci Code protestors, people of the underground cat meat black market, garbage pickers, mullets, a gang of men with farmers tans, and farming hipsters.
