About This Project

Hi! In case we haven't met, I'm Rachelle. I'm a singer-songwriter and worship leader in the Greater Toronto Area. 

Over the last few years, I've written a bunch of songs and I've hand-picked 10 of them to include on this new album. My goal is to create a collection of meaningful songs that will enrich the lives of people who listen to them. The lyrics to these songs come from my own reflections on life's joys and struggles, as well as some songs that were written for my church community. Musically, this album includes a variety of my favourite styles, spanning pop, soul/R&B, folk, and worship music. 

As an independent artist, I know this project will only succeed with the support of my listeners. I'd be so grateful if you would come along on this journey with me and be part of this process of making my first full-length album!

Why is Rachelle on Indiegogo?

Creating and releasing a professional recording is an expensive endeavour. The funds raised here will all go towards the cost of recording and releasing this album. Here is a breakdown of the costs:

 Would you like to help me make this album a reality? On the most basic level, I invite you to think of this Indiegogo campaign as supporting my music by purchasing the album in advance, before it's been made.  All the perk levels include a copy of the new album (both physical CD and digital download)! 

But even further, I invite you to see this as a way to partner with me as an artist, and to help me make my music available to more people! And you can enjoy some pretty cool perks, including calligraphy prints featuring my lyrics, a Rachelle Luk T-shirt, your name printed in the Album Credits, a YouTube cover dedicated to you, or a live performance by me! Each of the reward levels from Level 3 upwards includes all of the perks from lower levels.

The Impact

After releasing my first recording project "Brought to Light" in 2014, a 5-song EP that won 2 GMA Covenant Awards and received radio airplay, I am looking forward to sharing this new album with an even wider audience. I will be touring the GTA in late 2019-2020, sharing these songs with thousands of people, and submitting some of them to radio. For the songs that were written for use in churches, I'll be making the chord charts and lyric videos available for free. 

Most importantly, I hope these songs will bring encouragement, comfort, hope, and meaning to everyone who hears them.

What if?

I will be over the moon if this project reaches $8,000, but what if it exceeds that? I want you to know how I would put that to use, so I’m announcing a stretch goal of $12,000 CAD.

This stretch goal would mean 2 things:

1 - More music for you: I’ll be able to release a bonus version of a few of these tracks (for example, an acoustic version). Yay!

2 - My music to a wider audience: With these additional resources, I’ll be able to afford better radio promotion for my songs, so that they’ll have a bigger chance of being heard by wider and new audiences. And… some of the extra funds will go towards submitting my songs for consideration to be used in movies/TV.
