RAISE HELL

Night of the Evil Dead is our working title

Our campaign ends on October 2nd and Principle photography begins on September 2nd. This gives us a months worth of special effects work. Due to day jobs, we will shoot for approximately 2 months. Our tentative release date is January 2016.

Hello darklings. Thank you for scrolling down and giving us a chance. We are the creators of this project, Bernice Watson and Michael Prosper.  We have implorable hearts when it comes to horror. We adore it. We also share a love for practical effects and special effects makeup. One day after work, while strung out on caffeine, we threw around the idea to collaborate on something. That idea grew quick, from cosplay and mock-up trailers, until it solidified itself as a passionate film project. An homage to 80's horror films. Films such as The Evil Dead, Night of the Demons, Demons, Night of the Creeps, Nightbreed, The Hunger, A Nightmare On Elm Street, and the list grows dark and beautiful.

We are asking for your help so that we can fund our Special Effects department and Sound Design. These are two major roles in our film. To achieve this, honor our perks system, and acquire a safety net, we will need $3,000. Our sound design is in need of a shotgun mic. This will allow us to capture a wider range of sounds. By accomplishing and even exceeding our goal, we can further expand this department. We will aquire lavs for our talent to wear and weather protected boomsticks.

Special Effects Team

Dan and Jody Wilson are seasoned prop builders. They put on a haunted house each year. They have built The Necronomicon which will be a pivotal piece of the story. Mark Burgess has also helped create animatronic gags for the film.

Special Effects spending

We will use funds to acquire materials to make prosthetic pieces, props (limbs, intestines, objects such as books and weapons), and gore (most importantly gore).

Materials

  • foam latex kits
  • artificial eyes and hair
  • dental supplies
  • lifecasting supplies
  • painting supplies
  • blood and gore
  • slime
  • tubes and other devices to pull off in camera gags
  • other essentials like contacts and bruising kits

WHO ARE WE?

Bernice Watson is a talented and self taught makeup artist and aspiring practical effects artist. This is her first special effects project and directorial debut.

Michael Prosper is an aspiring director and writer. He has won best documentary for a short film called Troy at the Sacramento Next Talent awards. He has also worked on a couple promo pieces for The Bikers Inner Circle and Charlie Brechtel Band.

This film is our blood soaked love letter to the beauty that is horror.

SYNOPSIS

Feel like raising a little hell?

1986. Halloween night approaches. Eight friends set pace for a deadly righteous time. A desolate rage in the pines. Regan, our ace leader, rallies the charge, promising a night to die for. The atmosphere's eclectic and the vibes are right. But, little do they know, the real party starts when the sun dies.

We are pulling our hearts out from our throats and intend on showing you every possible admiration and ounce of dedication we have towards our respected mediums.

CHARACTER

We are trying our best to break stereotype with this film. Although our synopsis plays like an 80's horror, we really want to bring a fresh take to certain character tropes. Our characters deserve development because without them, and the people playing them, we wouldn't have the story to tell. We have eight characters total, each containing unique story. All of their seemingly stereotyped lives tie together in a way that we find truly exciting.

RawLadyJuice Productions in collaboration with Craft Cat Riot brings you Night of the Evil Dead. Currently this is our working title. We have a list of titles that are loved by us. We are thinking about collaborating with our contributors on this as well.

HERE'S THE SKINNY

  • The purpose of this campaign is to seek assistance in developing our Special Effects department and Sound Design.
  • Our goal is $3,000
  • If our goal is not reached then the contributed funds will go directly towards the film's effects.
  • If we are fortunate enough to surpass our goal then we are granted the opportunity to dive head on in to our imaginations as well as develop the entirety of our films production.
EQUIPMENT
By exceeding our goal, we can upgrade our equipment. Firstly, we will upgrade our lghting. If our funds increase further, we have various scenes that will greatly benefit from jibs and cranes. This gives our film a richer cinematic flavor.
SET DESIGN
Although the majority of our film takes place at night at a desolate cabin in Pollock Pines, there will be key moments located in character's houses and cars. We are currently developing these scenes and intend on bringing authenticity to the 80's setting. We have been thrifting quite frequently. This is the cheapest and most authentic way to achieve that aesthetic.
PROPS
Our main prop, the book of the dead, is already complete and fit with animatronics. Dan Wilson, Jody Wilson, and Mark Burgess round out the talented team that will bring this book to life. We are making another book, Magick: The Divide, that our character, Alice, studies ritually. This book holds extreme importance to the overall story. Some additional props from the film include: A Boombox, harmonica, My Pet Monster, Alcohol and empty bottles, CRT TV, chainsaw, Halloween decorations, and a bit more that we are keeping tight lipped on.
LOCATION
We are shooting primarily in Pollock Pines. Additionally, we are working on interior sets as well as exterior miniatures. If we succeed our goal of $3,000 then we will better develop the details of our sets. We will also look in to shooting at The Old Sugar Mill for interior. The Old Sugar Mill rents their wherehouse at $500 a day. Ideally, we would love to use the location for a 2-3 day shoot. Our film contains a spacious dance scene that could easily benefit.
POST PRODUCTION EFFECTS
We wrote this script without limit. So, if the budget allows it, we have one very special scene that will need to be aided by green screen fabric and post illusions.

PERKS TO DIE FOR

We are starting off our perks with a thank you note included in the credits and a digital copy of the film. From there, we would like the experience to feel as personal as possible.

Most of the props from the film will be given away to our contributors.
These props include:
  1. Magick: The Divide (Alice's book)
  2. Freddy's harmonica
  3. Decker's boombox
  4. An authentic My Pet Monster from the film
  5. Character prosthetic makeups
  6. A chainsaw from the film
  7. and possibly many more.
Other perks include a copy of the script, concept art and storyboards from Bernice and Michael, A poster by Michael, a t-shirt designed by Bernice and Michael, your picture propped in the movie, production credits, and trailer voice-over.

What this means to us

This is our passion project. This is also our first collaboration. With this film, we hope to extend our intent further and continue to create. Everyone on this team believes in this project. We all want to produce a satisfying slice of film for you.

Risks & Challenges

This movie will have it's hurdles. Every passion film does. We have a supportive team who truly care about one another. We are a thrifty and creative bunch and there isn't an option that is off the table. We are in tune to any and all suggestions and would also love collaborating with others.

Other Ways You Can Help

Sometimes, it just isn't the proper time to contribute, and we understand that.

Simply sharing this campaign with your friends and networks does a great deal in getting our project out there. We appreciate everything, especially the time you've taken from your day to hear what we've to say.
