What is Ordu, Texas about?
"Ordu, Texas" is an independent documentary film about Osman Gursoy. He is a 80 year old man, currently living in Ordu, Turkey, who traveled more than 200,000 kilometers on his small scooter across Europe and North America in the late 1960's.

Şu anda Ordu’da yaşayan 80 yaşındaki Gürsoy, 1960’ların sonlarında küçük scooter’ıyla Avrupa ve Kuzey Amerika’da 200,000 kilometreden fazla yol yaparak gezmiştir.

His passion for motorbikes started with a modification of a bicycle when he was young by adding a simple engine to it. This lifetime journey took him from Turkey to Europe 18 times and then across North America.

Despite the fact that Mr. Osman is probably one of the first adventure travelers from Turkey, his stories are not really well-known. I wanted to film a documentary about him to inspire others. He traveled all across Europe with a six horse power scooter he bought in 1969, taking him on incredible adventures with wonderful stories.

Gürsoy, 1969 yılında aldığı 6 beygir gücündeki scooter’ıyla tüm Avrupa’yı dolaştı ve muhteşem hikayelerle inanılmaz maceralar yaşadı.

Who is the filmmaker?
My name is Tolga Basol and I came up with the idea of making a documentary about Osman Gursoy because I was inspired by his story. I have worked as a motion graphics designer in Istanbul since 2002. Filmmaking and traveling on my motorcycle have been my biggest passions besides my professional career.

After working for thirteen years in the media industry, I recently decided to travel around the world on my motorcycle, leaving on June 1st, 2014.

Currently I am in North America and I have time to complete Ordu, Texas before I ride on through South America.

Why I need your support?
I filmed Ordu, Texas about a year ago with a three man crew, and I was able to produce the trailers (above) without any financial support and with the help of my friends. But as you can imagine, there is a limit for production in order to complete an hour movie.

Ordu, Texas’ı bir yıl önce, üç kişilik bir ekiple çektim ve yukarıda gördüğünüz fragmanları herhangi bir finansal destek olmadan arkadaşlarımın yardımıyla üretebildim. Ancak, tahmin edersiniz ki bir saatlik filmi tamamlamak bu üretim şartları altında kısıtlı kalıyor.
I have spent a lot of time and personal funding on this project. While the filming process is over and two trailers have been made, I was not able to complete the post production stage by myself. There will be animated sections in the movie, illustrations, compositing work, music, color correcting and other essential technical aspects which I can not do by myself.

Filme çekme süreci ve iki adet fragman bitmiş olsa da post prodüksiyon kısmıni tek başıma bitirmem mümkün olmadı. Filmde tek başıma yapamayacağım animasyon, illüstrasyon, compositing, müzik, renk düzeltme gibi birçok teknik gereksinim var.
