Short Summary
Hey everyone! We have been hard at work the last three years writing, recording, and producing our 46-minute album "Terrapin." When "The Return of Inertia" was first released in December 2011, we were stunned by its reach, and couldn't wait to try again with another album. However times have changed: Facebook's reach is limited without paying money, the genre has become over-saturated with new acts, and we have become less relevant due to the speed at which we write. BUT, we are confident that the people who love OTS for it's instrumental, ambient, progressive, epic songwriting will really dig "Terrapin." It's been a long time coming, and it's finally here, and we want as many people to hear it as possible. The indiegogo is simply a way to gauge how much merchandise we should buy. That's it: it's a pre-order platform.
"The Pace of Glaciers."
"Spirit." Why are we coming to you?
It's simple, we want to avoid as much as possible having the band "owe" the label. So we decided to put it into your hands. If you buy a perk on here, you are reducing the ROI (Return on Investment) the label puts in and in return giving the band a more than fighting chance to collect royalties on Day One sales. Something nowadays unheard of.
We also want to make the vinyl just for those of you who REALLY want it. Nothing like holding on to inventory that doesn't move...it kinda sucks.
For helping us you will get an advance listening to the album a two weeks before its released via the bands Mobile / Social app. Only YOU, the backers of this campaign, will have that chance.
You also get things like:
• Digipak Enhanced CD

Digipack Mock-up
• Vinyl version of the album

Bone vinyl mock-up, how sick does this look?
• Limited Edition Tee

• Limited Edition Poster
And EVERYONE that does any perk $10.00 and up gets a copy of the Live Electrical Audio Session for free with their perk (a completely one-take, three-song, live performance we recorded at Steve Albini's infamous studio in Chicago, IL with producer Tim Foley).
This is the first track "Ambivalence" recorded at Electrical Audio.
Now how about that? We have also thought of other sick perks like:
• Our drummer Pedro will cut your hair to make you look like a damn hipster.

(Actual hair cut by Barber Pedro: slick as hell.)
• Our keyboardist, Adrian, will cook you the best meal you've ever had (he's a culinary student at Kendall College, chee-yah)

• The bass drum head illustrated by Austin, used in our upcoming music video.
• Original artwork illustrated by Austin that will be in the Terrapin Digipack.
• Attend an Audiotree Live session with Outrun the Sunlight and watch them perform and eat pizza! To give you some idea of what Audiotree does, here's Veil of Maya performing in their studio. • Bowling with Outrun the Sunlight i.e. we're gonna kick your ass at bowling.
Why is helping us cool?
Its really simple, it reduces a lot of overhead that would be attached to the bands ROI. The whole idea of making music a career, is to eventually get paid full time to do it. We want this very badly for OTS, and as a fan, you should as well.
- Less overhead on the label for us to pay back
- You give us the ability to make our record ... on an actual RECORD!
- Helping is what makes the world go round.
Risks & Challenges
There's a chance we won't hit our goal. if that happens, the money earned will go towards the band, the label will front the rest but then the band will owe the label and their royalties will come to them much much later.
Other Ways You Can Help
Broke? Don't wanna help out with cash? Ok, not a problem.
-
SPREAD THE LINK AROUND. If you really like the band, you can devote 5 minutes of your time and post this. It does more good than you could know. The more people that talk about it, the better chance we have of making the album a reality.
And that's all there is to it.
