Hey!
I'm a Welsh film maker based in the Manchester area. I've always had a passion for telling real stories which is why I've written my current script on the theme of loss within a family.
I lost my mother to breast cancer when I was 17 and had just become a single mother to my beautiful but strong willed daughter who is now 6 and the love of my life. At the time she was just two weeks old.
Myself and three other like-minded film makers decided to work under the pseudonym of Shared Patio Films. We have made many short dramas exploring various different themes but always with the hope of creating 'real' performances that people can relate to. Our aim is to work outside of the box and address honest issues from our own experiences and emotions.
We are all incredibly passionate about what we do and are determined to make this project a success, with the intention to distribute the finished film to various different festivals across the UK and Worldwide.
We will also be donating 25% of any profit the film makes to break through breast cancer. More information can be found at the following link: http://breakthrough.org.uk
The Impact
1 in 8 women will at some point develop breast cancer. Addressing the issue of cancer in this campaign will raise awareness about the illness as well as the families that are affected. We will follow each character and see, through their eyes, the variety of thoughts and emotions which come hand in hand with facing the reality of terminal cancer. From hate to hurt to love and laughter. We will see the transferal of roles and how the family readjusts itself to compensate for the missing person.
What We Need & What You Get
We will be filming the production in Chidwall, Liverpool, in two weeks time. Taking into account the entire cast and crew, there will be 12 of us. As young indy filmmakers, we are having to work to a very low budget therefore unfortunately cannot afford to pay for everyone's expenses out of our own pockets. This is where we look to you for help! Your money will be used to pay for our talented cast's accommodation and travel. Any help is invaluable! In return you will get a dvd copy of the film and your name in the credit list. Also, the knowledge that your money is being used to portray an honest film from the words of someone who's experienced the devastation of terminal cancer.
