About us:
My name is Charles, also known as Vellusian. I'm the owner and administrator of a small, 20-person Minecraft bukkit server. We've been operational for over ten months now and it's starting to show. Our worlds and plugins have expanded over the months to the point that my locally hosted server cannot keep up with demand. It's our hope to raise enough money to get a box dedicated to the server that has more processing power and RAM to feed our growing needs.
Here's the plan:
Here's how I'm planning on on spending the money if we manage to reach our goals.
Of the $500 of the starting goal, ~$40 will be expenses of the campaign, since the platform takes a cut.
My current build that I have in mind is in the link below.

If we manage to surpass our goal, I have several stretch goals in mind.
For $150 more ($650) total, I'll double the total RAM making a server with 32 GB.
At $750, I'll switch to a Phenom chip with a higher cache and the case/power supply will be swapped out with one with more fans and watts.
At $850, I'll look into getting a higher performance modem to see if opening up that choke will decrease latency and any dropped packets.
If we go higher than that, I'll have to come up with something else. We can make this happen!
In exchange:
I promise that the resulting machine will be used for the server and related tasks.
For your donation, as shown elsewhere on this page, we will build a Donor's Hall, with your name immortalized in the Overworld of the server.
Every level of donation gets credits to use in a planned in-game shop. These can also be obtained from in-game tasks.
At the Gold level, you have the option to append [VIP] as an additional suffix to your name. This tag is updated to [Elite] for an Emerald level donation. These tags are optional.
Curated nicknames are available with a Diamond level or higher donation. These nicknames are changed by server staff and cannot create confusion between players (i.e. using a name similar to another player's or appearing in staff colors). These are limited in change, likely once a week, to enable staff members to play and deal with other situations.
What this means:
Quite simply, this expansion should reduce server lag, potentially allowing us to turn up the number of active chunks, increase our player cap, as well as enable further growth.
As the server administrator, I can confirm that the simple process of running the server takes all of the resources I can provide to it. We're limited to 1 GB of memory and 1 core of my processor; both of which are at max most of the time. I've slimmed down what I can without affecting gameplay, but we're running at what I'd consider the core of our server.
Can't donate, but want to help:
We're happy if you share the server with your friends and online communities. We're always looking for new, good players and look forward to welcoming them into our community.
