We're STRETCHIN' baby!

Hooray! We met our goal of $10,000 and we're so honored that many of you believed and contributed to this project. The money we raised so far was for production costs and principal photography, which we are so thankful for, but the filmmaking experience involves so much more. Over the next couple of weeks, we're hoping to use the remaining part of the campaign to meet our stretch goal of $17,000, which will help us round things out with post-production, festival submissions, travel costs for festivals, all working towards distribution, and trying to get connected with the right people to help expand this vision further-- whether that means a feature film, pilot pitch presentations, or something else that we can't even imagine yet!

Every little bit helps to move the needle closer to that amount, and we're incredibly thankful for anything you can give towards this stretch goal. We even have some new incentives like:

Why Fund This Project?

My name is Yola Jean Lu and I am an comedian, writer and actress living in Austin, TX. I created this short film called 'PATSY' that is inspired by true life experiences. It touches on divorce, miscarriage and suicide, but it's a comedy! It's about an Asian American woman who is flawed and horny and just looking for love, something that I feel like we need to see more of on screen today.

But a little bit more about myself:

This isn't my first rodeo. I created a web series in 2018 called 'uncomfortable the series,' where we premiered our first video on WhoHaha. It's now living on YouTube where we have over 2000 subscribers to the channel (with very little promotion) and one of the videos amassed over a million views! I even sold an episode to be streamed at a corporate event.  I was able to create this with a miniscule budget, so imagine what could be done with an even bigger budget and team behind this project!

This campaign is so important to me because it's such a raw piece of work that I created. It's basically a story about the last few years of my life which have been some of the hardest, most devastating experiences that I've gone through, but because I'm also a comedian, I wanted to make this funny. And it is funny and I hope relatable to people.

Helping fund this project is helping support female Asian American filmmakers, behind and in front of the camera. We don't get to see a lot of these stories on screen, and I'd like to tell the story of someone who's always been considered a side character in life. Your contributions would help tell this story.

I am needing $10,000. The rest of the money is coming out of my savings. I am needing this much money because it's a 22 page script, and I'm needing to film for at minimum 4 days, which means I'll need to pay cast and crew their rates for 4 days of work, which adds up. Plus, food. God, food is so expensive.
