Overview
Open-source motion comic, based on «Pepper & Carrot» by David Revoy.

UPDATE: Much thanks to everyone for support! The motion comic is released now:

My name is Nikolai Mamashev, I am animation artist. I would like to produce an open-source motion comic, based on the work by David Revoy - «Pepper & Carrot». The result is going to be published for free under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, together with all sources (much like as all open-movies).

This work is going to be done exclusively with free and open-source software - namely Krita and Blender.

«Pepper & Carrot» webcomic is originally created by French independent artist David Revoy. The story is concentrated around "Pepper" - a young witch - and her cat "Carrot". They live in a fun fantasy universe made of potions, magic and creatures. It's a comedy/humor webcomic suited for any audience. No mature content, no violence.

DISCLAIMER: This campaign is collecting funds exclusively for my
(Nikolai Mamashev) work on production of motion-comic. Although
original author of the web-comic (David Revoy) has acclaimed the
initiative of this campaign, he is not involved in production process
of motion comic and does not receive/shares any revenues collected
here. The name of David Revoy on images are specified for attribution
purposes (as requirement of license), but not as sign of affiliation.
You can support the work of David Revoy on production of original
web-comic through his Patreon page.

A motion comic is a form of animation combining elements of print comics books, animation, music, sound and special VFX. Unlike an usual animation film work, motion comics takes less time to produce, allowing to deliver alive and thrilling stories in a short time.

The money collected from this campaign will go for production of one motion comic video, based on the «The Potion Contest» episode (this is one of my favorite ones). You can find it here — http://www.peppercarrot.com/en/article271/episode-6-the-potion-contest.

The production process will include following steps:

- Original webcomic image is separated into individual parts. Missing segments (overlapping areas, extended frames, etc.) are painted and reconstructed by hand;

Separated into individual parts

- The parts composed together in Blender. Here goes simulation setup and VFX, rigs for characters and environments;

- The parts are animated in Blender;

- The ready animated shots are rendered and stitched together in Blender's Video Sequence Editor, combining together with music and voice. Here also goes sound design works.

I am a freelance artist and within the outlined budget of this campaign I will be able to dedicate full-time schedule to this production. I have a skills in painting, cutout animation and 3D modeling. For my daily work I use exclusively free and opensource software (Krita, MyPaint, Inkscape, Blender). Below you can see some of my works.
