Short Summary
Formed between Manchester, UK, and Israel, PORTNOY is the culmination of two brothers, Israel & Mendy, making music together for as long as they can remember. Two out of nine kids in a very musical family, their body of work spans many genres and includes one album under a different band name “Learn To Love” (2016, The Portnoy Brothers), one EP "The Garden Sessions" (2019), countless covers and an upcoming release of their debut album, “No Complaints.” Recorded and produced in Nashville TN, mixed and mastered in Israel this exciting new album is expected to be released in September 2019.
PORTNOY have a breathtaking warm sound, with effortless harmonizing and easy melodicism. Imagine a combination of The Milk Carton Kids, Beatles, and Crosby Stills and Nash, to get your ears excited!
PORTNOY travel the world performing in a wide variety of venues, private events, festivals and more. Whether they're with their full band or playing as a duo, their distinct sound always shines through.
About our new album:
"No Complaints" is a collection of songs written over the last couple of years and it’s the first time we’ve recorded songs that were all co-written by both of us.
Music is our full-time venture, and after hundreds of shows, weddings, private events and music interfaith workshops around the world, we discovered that our music was connecting communities and resonating with people giving them a sense of nostalgia and hope. Realizing this, we hit the studio to record something that we hope will amplify that inspiration tenfold.
We decided there was no better place than Nashville to track a record like this – so to Nashville we went!
We teamed up with Wes Little – an incredible drummer/producer who put together an incredible rhythm section for us and we spent two days at his gorgeous home studio recording the album.
Over the next few months we are going to be getting creative, adding some more layers, backing vocals as well as mixing and mastering to tie the whole record together.
