Pria is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Pria must be made payable to "Fractured Atlas" only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

"Pria" (Man or Gentleman in Indonesian) is the story of a young LGBT teen growing up in rural Indonesia who finds himself stuck in between the traditions of his upbringing and his romantic idealization of the freedom of the West.

This film is incredibly important to us not only because of our love (really, this is no exaggeration) of filmmaking, but for our passion to provide voices to stories and communities that are underrepresented.

There are currently no "LGBT themed" films set in rural Indonesia, a nation where same sex marriage is still not legal (or rather, not even part of the vernacular) and homosexuality is still very taboo (if not illegal).

We hope to bring a story as special as "Pria" to life and shared around the world with your help.

Yudho Aditya (DIRECTOR) IMDB / VIMEO / "Pria" BLOG

Yudho was born in Jakarta, Indonesia but relocated to the United States when he was 10.  While attending the University of California, Irvine, he was the recipient of the Roston Grant for Outstanding Film Student as well as the Tonelli Essay Prize for Film & Media Criticism.

In addition to the BFI award-winning short, “Missed,” he also directed the viral sensation, “Midnights with Adam."  His recent hit "Pipe Dream" has been selected in numerous film festivals around the world such as Frameline, Outfest, LAAPFF, Toronto Inside Out, Hawaii FF, Hong kong FF and many others.

He is currently a directing MFA candidate at Columbia University, New York.  "Pria" will be Yudho's Non-Thesis film.

Valerie Castillo Martinez (PRODUCER) IMDB
Val was born in Manila, Philippines and is an MFA Creative Producing candidate at Columbia University. She served in the US Air Force, completed her MBA and worked in the financial industry prior to crossing over to film. She has written, directed and produced a number of short films set in several countries such as the US, Philippines and Spain.

She started her company Indieflip in 2012 with a vision to make films on underrepresented subjects and cross cultural themes. She has several projects currently in development.

"Pria" will be Valerie's thesis film.

Dea Kulumbegashvili (ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY) IMDB

Dea was born and raised in Georgia (the country!). Her upbringing in this historic melting pot of various cultures and nationalities is a primary influence in her vision as a filmmaker.

Her debut short film "Invisible Spaces" was nominated for the Palme D’Or at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2014. It screened in more than 30 international film festivals and was accoladed with multiple awards.

In December 2014, Invisible Spaces was part of the retrospective Discovering Georgian Cinema, in MoMA.

She is currently an MFA candidate at Columbia University, New York.

Barbara Cigarroa (CO-WRITER) IMDB

Boba (that's our nickname for her!) grew up in Texas with a large multi-cultural family that has roots both in the United States and in Mexico. This bi-national upbringing inspired Barbara to tell stories that deal with identity and strong independent characters.

A graduate from Yale University (so smart!), Barbara studied English with a concentration in Creative Writing.

Currently a screenwriting concentrate at Columbia University, her first short film, "Marta Rosa," has been invited to screen at numerous film festivals, including the Austin,  New Orleans Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, as well as the Palm Springs International Shortfest, where it WON both the Panavision Best North American Short Award as well as the Best Student Film Under 15 minutes.

WE ARE ALSO PROUD TO HAVE OUR INDONESIAN PRODUCTION PARTNERS BABIBUTAFILM - Meiske Taurisia and Eddy Zaidy. BabibutaFilm has made movies that have played in festivals including Cannes, TIFF, Berlinale and Rotterdam
