What is ATLAS

Atlas is a smartphone that embodies the best of what we have come to expect from a Flagship Device.It includes Leading edge technologies and is incredibly versatile as it can run both Android 4.4.2 and Windows phone 8.1 

The Phone is Crafted from Aluminium and has a brushed finish for a true premium look and feel.Packed inside are some of the best of today's technologies and we will keep an eye out for some new technologies that can be incorporated at later stage, keeping the phone at the cutting edge.

The entire Aluminium frame comes off so as to have easy access to the battery compartment which also houses the micro-SIM and microSD card slots.Also allows backers to change the frame in case of dents, scratches or scuff marks.

We have incorporated 4 GB of next Gen LPDDR4 Ram inside the smartphone ensuring fluid and superfast UI.This memory cost almost twice of today's leading LPDDR3 memory but brings along twice the bandwith and lower power consumption, Plus as it is a 64-Bit interface we have essentially future-proofed Atlas.

The Rear Camera has a  1/2.3 inch sensor similar to Today's leading point and shoot cameras, for comparison it has about 64% bigger area than the sensor in Apple's iphone 5s meaning better pictures and lower noise.Also included is a F2.2 lens.Also incorporated is a higher quality 8MP front facing camera with autofocus to take great selfies :-)

The phone supports 4K recording at upto 30fps, 1080p at 60/30fps, and also has a 720p 60/30fps mode for video

It also packs a dedicated audio amplifier DAC with an incredible 117 dB SNR ratio for truly great sound quality off the shelf, Inbuilt are high power stereo Speakers with over 1 watt output.A 3.5mm audio jack and noise cancelling microphones for voice calls are standard.

The 5 inch Full HD screen might look as a bit of downside with all the news about 2K screens but we believe that at such veiwing distance and screen size, the over 440ppi that Atlas offers is perfectly fine and a viable tradeoff against higher battery drain and GPU overheads that 2K screens essentially create.Also the screen is built using the very latest LTPS technology and will offer great outdoor visibility along with other attributes like good contrast, colour saturation and wide viewing angle that today's discerning viewers desire.

The phone also supports the Latest LTE advanced technology for 4G and incorporates the maximium bands for full coverage on major US and European networks, the phone will be available unlocked.

We have Packed a bigger user replaceable 3500 mAh battery so the phone can go longer on a single charge and gets fast charging system as standard.furthermore it comes with a microSDXC card slot with support for upto 128GB cards.

Software

It runs both Android 4.4.2 or higher and windows phone 8.1 giving users the freedom to choose their favourite OS which can be changed at the flick of a button (Needs Rebooting of device).User files like Photos, videos, audio are accessible across both OSes

While designing the handset we we pretty clear that we wanted an elegant premium look that did not have too pronounced curved edges.It had to be simple, yet sophisticated and ooze quality from the moment you gaze on it.We worked hard with our designers to create a modern classy look that is built to last.

About Us

• My name is Swapnil Pereira, I am a life long tech Affectionado, I have been interested in tech since i was 13 years old and always dreamed of creating something exiting and unique that i can share with like minded individuals.I get quite exited by new advancements in the mobile phone space. But like many other people i wait long enough for a new handset to arrive in the market for the major brands to somewhat disappoint me and then start an endless cycle of finding a compromise handset that will become obsolete in a mere 6 months because they launch a better handset so close to their last one.
• The Aim behind Atlas is to create a Smartphone that does away with the constant need to upgrade our handsets,By inherently putting in the most advanced yet off the shelf components available inside the phone we can create a smartphone that gives a great user experience even 3 years in its lifecycle, Another main feature is Dual Booting Stock Android 4.4.2 and Windows phone 8.1, that gives users the versatility to use the OS of their choice at the flick of a button, or even use say one OS for Work and one for Home.
• By contributing to this project you can share this dream and we can work towards bringing the phone to market by June 2015 at the earliest.Our Manufacturing and development partners in China have extensive experience in ODM phone manufacturing and have given us a compact development to Market Schedule but they need us to order a minimum 3000 units of the product hence the high Funding goal.

What We Need & What You Get

• We require Approx. $1.95 million in funding so we can place the order for 3000 handsets with our Partners in China

The Impact

• Your Contribution is extremely important as it will help us bring ATLAS to market, a product unique and different from other brands backed up by exclusivity and low production numbers.

Risks & Challenges

As with any Crowdfunded initiative there is always a risk that we can fail, starting with the foremost that if we do not achieve our funding target.Also there is a risk that we may fall behind development schedule, and in keeping this in hindsight we have given a long development upto June 2015 so even with little setbacks we can aim to deliver the product by that timeframe.

FAQs

Is the phone unlocked ?

the phone comes unlocked so can be used in most countries with GSM/HSPA networks.Major LTE networks in USA, UK and most EU countries are supported plus the widest bands for coverage in other major countries.

What if LTE networks in my country are not supported if i lie outside of these regions ?

If you lie in China, India, Korea, Japan and Australia we will support major LTE networks in these countries, but not all.Other countries coverage cannot be guaranteed.

What about VAT and other taxes ?

If you are purchasing the phone from USA, taxes are included in the price. If you are in the the UK and EU Countries, VAT needs to be paid by backers to us at prevailing rates in your Country plus upto 5.5% for additional charges (currency exchange,Card charges and other fees). The delivery of the product may be stalled until this VAT amount is paid in full.

All other Countries VAT, other taxes, custom duties etc shall be paid by backers on their own to the authorities in their Jurisdiction.We will not be liable for any such payments in these regions

For the smaller perks do we need to pay VAT as extra ?

For The perks upto $150 VAT (where applicable) in UK and EU countries is included in this price, Backers do not need to pay extra

What warranty does the phone come with ?

we offer a standard 2 year limited manufacturer's warranty which covers repair or replacement of faulty original parts.We will also offer a 28 day return if you are not happy with the device - your money back and no questions asked (return shipping costs not included)

Why is there such a high Funding Goal ?

the funding goal is determined in our case by the minimum quantity of phones to be manufactured by our partners in China, unfortunately 3000 units is the lowest we could go for and hence it is this high.

What if you do not meet the goal, do we lose our Money ?

No, Project ATLAS is a all or nothing Fixed Funded project on Indiegogo, if we do not meet the goal we will return all your money, a full 100% of it back to you, within the stipulated time frame as governed by Indiegogo.

How will i know about the progress of the project ?

We will keep in touch with all the backers by email and let you know about major milestones
