RECESS, IN THE FLESH
Recess, a Walt Disney animated series created by Paul Germain & Joe Ansolabehere was an epic show that blew our minds as kids. Nothing beat coming home after school to wind down after a long day, sipping grape juice boxes and watching the adventures of TJ and the gang.
Fast forward 20 years and we're still die hard fans of Recess and aren’t afraid to admit that we still binge watch episodes. It's as timeless as iconic shows like The Office and Friends!
Yet one question continued to haunt us - what happened to the gang after 4th grade?
Well we're here to answer that question for you! As filmmakers, we want to explore a more grown-up version of the show - same characters, different issues. A live action, re-imagining of the gang in a high school setting tackling current issues like love, peer pressure, social media, identity, etc.
Featuring an all-star cast, we want to bring an inspired, 11 page script to life for YOU, the show's diverse fanbase.
INT. 3RD STREET HIGH SCHOOL
The story...
When Mikey gets his fragile heart broken by Ashley A, the gang (with TJ at the helm) try and cheer him up with treats at Kelso's corner store. On their quest to make Mikey smile again, they discover that something more sinister than a break-up is brewing at Third Street High...
-- There's trouble lurking in the shadows and it ain't Finster, folks.

DIRECTOR'S NOTE
Recess is a magical show I loved dearly growing up. I still remember fondly as a kid, trying to imitate the gang, as I would pronounce myself as TJ, then delegate the other characters' roles to the rest of my friends. We had our own version of Old Rusty, Ms Finster (who was actually a super nice lady -- sorry Mrs. Pritchard), and Kelso's store. Looking back, it taught me alot about the value of friendship, doing the right thing, and that having a crush on a cartoon character doesn't translate to real life, ha! My point is this show was at times, poetic, and conveyed genuine, real life lessons through metaphors. Words can't express how tremendously excited I am to bring this fan film to life. The team has been unbelievable and has hustled to put the puzzle pieces in place. It's truly been a dream to work so closely with talented friends, and colleagues who has been as passionate as I am about the project. It goes to show how big of an impact Paul and Joe's creation has made on an entire generation of kids and young adults. I hope to do this fan film justice, not just for them, but for all fans out there. Your support would mean everything. Thank you.
