Cats develop dental issues due to bacteria buildup that causes plaque & tartar buildup. This can cause incredible pain, inflammation and gum disease, and often results in teeth needing to be extracted. The RYERCAT Toothbrush is a proactive approach that helps keep your cat’s mouth clean and reduces the risk of dental extractions when used regularly.





There will be 5 color options to choose from. We suggest choosing a different color for each cat in the house.  Having a toothbrush for each cat is the most hygienic practice as bacteria can differ from cat to cat. Imagine sharing your toothbrush with everyone at home… Gross!!

Whether you have a kitten or big fat cat, the RYERCAT Toothbrush is suitable & small enough for all ages. Measuring only 0.8mm, the round head can easily slip into a small kitten's mouth.  Because of the incredibly small size, you’ll brush your adult cat’s teeth effortlessly as they are not resisting a large toothbrush or finger.

Every product that is made and sold creates pollution. It's our responsibility to design and build products that reduce this pollution to a minimum. That means a maximum long lifespan and a good recyclability of the products to reduce waste.

The RYERCAT Toothbrush is made from cornstarch which gives it a “matte” feeling. This special type of plastic is biodegradable & we highly recommend taking it to your local recycling facility after it wears out.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), you should replace a manual toothbrush every three to four months, for both humans & cats!  If you use your brush for much longer than that, the bristles will start to become frayed and worn, and they won't be as effective at clearing away plaque.

As for cleaning, we recommend rinsing thoroughly after each use & let it completely dry before putting it away.  These brushes are also dishwasher safe for the top rack & this is a great thing to do every 2 weeks to keep the bacteria at bay! 

Creating a toothbrush might seem like a simple task, but we wanted to share with you the complexity of designing your own toothbrush.  The first step is coming up with a great design. 


Our design is based from feline anatomy and took several months to finalize. The design is also important to optimize for mass production so that it works with our plastic injection mold. However, after the design, we only could see it on the computer. We weren't able to touch it, hold it, or measure it up to our own cat's mouths.  The next step was 3D Printing!



After 3D printing an being able to hold the brush in our hands (minus the bristles), we were able to move on to CNC printing. 



We ended up going through 2 rounds of CNC printing to get thing JUST RIGHT.  The final step in our process is to create the plastic injection mold for mass production. 


 

Located in Vancouver, Canada, RYERCAT was founded by a wonderful LGBT couple - Samantha & Melanie.

These two crazy cat ladies knew they needed to create better dental products after a vet visit gone wrong with their oldest cat, Henry.


Henry had a tooth that had gotten so bad, the only option was to extract the tooth. He had been in pain for months, and Samantha & Melanie had no idea until taking him in for a routine vet visit.  It wasn’t until this point that they knew: Cats needed to have their teeth brushed.

But aren’t there already pet toothbrushes out there?

If you've ever tried finding a tiny toothbrush... you know how impossible this task is. Even baby human toothbrushes are GIANT when compared to cat anatomy.  Using a finger brush is also out of the question, as most human fingers are much too large to comfortably fit into a cats mouth. 

The problem? Imagine how uncomfortable using something the size of your cell phone to brush your teeth... pretty uncomfortable, right? By using the correct size toothbrush for your cat, it will reduce the struggle as they won't be in pain from an oversized brush. 

Samantha & Melanie searched for dental solutions for their 3 cats, & they found a huge lack of dental care products for cats. Not only were all the products the same color, they simply were not made for Cat Anatomy.
