Culture, Commerce and Community
For the past decade, The Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce has raised money through sponsors, donations and grantsto put on the FREE Jazz Thursdays Outdoor Summer Concert Series in Forest Hills, NY. Leslie Brown, Chamber President and concert creator/producer, has taken her love of Jazz and her love of Forest Hills and combined them to create a unique cultural experience to the neighborhood she grew up in.
About Jazz Thursdays
In the heart of Forest Hills, two Thursdays every August, 70th Road (also known as Restaurant Row) is transformed from a block full of amazing restaurants to an intimate seated concert space with free world class performances you don't want to miss. These concerts are highly anticipated by the entire community every year and have been a family friendly atmosphere. People bring blankets and chairs for when our seating is filled. There is something so special about seeing families, from grandparents to teenagers to babies all brought together by music.
Our Goal
This year for our 10 year anniversary of the Jazz Thursdays Outdoor Summer Concert Series we would like to expand our duo of concerts to a trio! We need your help, The Forest Hills Chamber relies on donations, sponsors and grants to keep these concerts FREE for the public and to pay our staging and sound crew and our performers. No donation is too small ever dollar counts towards helping us reach our goal of $8,000. The next concerts are scheduled to be held August 7th, 14th and 21st of 2014. We hope to keep this concert series going for many years to come and we hope to see you there!
