Danbury Music Centre needs your help to recover from a financial hit to our summer programs.
Since 1935, Danbury Music Centre has provided musicians and audiences with quality classical music experiences. Since the 1950s, DMC has offered summer programming where kids and adults can hone their skills. In fact, many musicians found their start in one of these programs!
Danbury Music Centre is an organization that relies on individual donations to keep the doors open. To minimize costs, most of our programming takes place off-site, in spaces that we rent from other organizations – such as schools, churches, synagogues, and the local university – in the greater Danbury area.
Last summer, Danbury Music Centre was all set to offer our Summer Festival at one of our local public schools, when we learned that this school, as well as most of the other area schools, were scheduled to have major construction – a roof replacement on the books meant we had no place to go.
We were so glad to be able, last-minute, to rent space from Western Connecticut State University. However, the cost of this venue was $10,000 more than we had budgeted.
We did a lot of soul-searching and decided that it would be better to take a financial risk, and keep our programs going, than to take a summer off and potentially lose many of our students forever.

By contributing to this campaign, you are helping to keep great, educational music programs in Danbury. It’s as simple as that.
Many participants in our summer programs have gone on to become professional musicians. But more important than that, participants develop friendships and cultivate a love of music and that last a lifetime.
Risks & Challenges
The challenge is to keep our programs accessible to all, which means we must keep our prices affordable. Your contribution helps us make that possible. Without your help, we look at significantly increasing tuition or reducing our offerings. Our summer programs have been around for over 60 years; Danbury Music Centre is in its 81st season.
