Sawyer is a projection of our world in the near future.
By the year 2100, the Earth's sea level will rise about 7 feet, significantly shrinking coastlines and redrawing the face of the planet. To reduce further impact, the United States has outlawed the use of fossil fuels, relying instead on heavily-regulated nuclear power. This shift caused several states to secede, dividing the nation under threat of martial law. This is the story of the first stand of Arkansas.
We follow a poor farm girl, Sawyer, as she takes care of herself and her radiation-poisoned mother. Unable to afford the electricity to keep her mother alive, she must rebuild her father's illegal, homemade generator under the watchful eye of the government. Slowly gathering support from the town members, a silent rebellion begins to form.

As we graduate film school, we wanted to make a film that was both relevant and true to ourselves.
Our generation today faces a set of unique challenges – we’re running out of water in California, the Great Barrier Reef is dying, coastal cities are threatened by rising sea levels and tropical storms, and our government is removing environmental regulations and objectives left and right. As artists, we believe it is our responsibility to comment on these issues and promote positive change.

As stated in the Declaration of Independence, “…That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles.”
Sawyer is a political and environmental commentary on such concepts. In a modern society run by lobbyists and energy corporations, it explores the consequences of our resistance to change and the pitfalls of a slipping democracy.

To make this film happen, we need your help to raise $5,000. After many long weeks of script breakdowns, scouting and planning, we have done everything in our power to get this number as low as possible while still maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for our hard-working cast and crew. We can't do this without you; whether $5 or $500, any and all donations are immensely appreciated and will help bring this project to life.

Different levels of donations will receive various perks related to the film. Every donation will receive a temporary link to view the film after completion! For $25, your name will appear in the credits under Special Thanks. A $100 donation will get you access to our digital download pack, which includes various artwork from the film, the original soundtrack, screenplay, and a permanent link to the film. A $250 will get you an associate producer credit in the film, or for $500, you will receive credit as executive producer in the film and on IMDB.
By supporting this project, you are not only helping spread a valuable message, but also supporting dozens of young, aspiring artists in the persuit of their craft.
