The cast and crew of Serial Rabbit is more than just a production crew. They’re a family of writer, directors, actors, prop masters, designers and producers who have worked on countless projects together. With over 35 feature films under Brett Mauser’s belt, he has collected an incredible group of talented and devoted actors and producers over a film career spanning more than two decades.
Now a professor of Digital Film and Video Production at the Art Institute of San Antonio, Brett dispenses his years of experience and knowledge to the next generation of filmmakers.
We begin production of Serial Rabbit V: The Epic Hunt on July 7, 2017, utilizing a terrific local Texas cast. Shooting simultaneously will be Serial Rabbit VI: The Making of Serial Rabbit V. This isn’t a documentary, but a found footage film that will follow the cast and crew of SRV as they are stalked by the Serial Rabbit during the production. As actors are killed left and right during the filming, director Brett Mauser will have to make rewrites and course corrections in order to deal with the deaths on set. The mysterious disappearances and bizarre character developments will all be explained in the Making of Film.
Your contribution will help us bring additional production value to the film. Ok. And boobs. As many boobs as our additional funding will allow.
Why do we do the Serial Rabbit Films?
What is Serial Rabbit to me? Why are we making another one? Well, the answer to both questions is, it's fun. They're just fun, crazy films to make. We get to have fun, not be stressed and freak out if an actor cancels or a location falls through. It's about trying new things, experimenting with special effects and visual effects and meet new people, work with them. Try out new talent, recruit new people, get to give new up and comers a chance. But most of all, they really are just wild and crazy and wacky and fun to shoot. It's hanging out with old friends and doing something that you don't see in Hollywood. When you watch a rabbit film, it's like you're part of the cast and crew. you can see how much fun we have, and you have fun in return. You become part of the family. You laugh at it, you make fun of it, but you have a good time watching the silliness, and nothing beats watching that rabbit hop away after a kill. I'm really excited about getting to work with peopleI haven't worked with since the last Serial Rabbit, or even longer! Friends, and people I consider family.
I hope you will come and support us and this fun, exciting film project. We've already reached our goal, but we're only a couple days in and we can always use more to make the film even better! And of course, we're excited to see you at the premiere in October!
