Short Summary
Table, initially produced in 1984, is a non-dialogue experimental film about five characters sitting at the round dining table in a fancy restaurant. The film focuses on how they interact with each other without dialogue, but with body language and eye contact. Matthew S. Moore directed this film, which was selected as a film festival semifinalist in 1984 at the AFI (American Film Institute) FEST. Over 40 years later, Table will be remade!
Why are we remaking the film? Because in 40 years, society has changed, through human interactions, exposure to diverse cultures, and relationships. The goal of the film is to reflect on the etiquette of modern society. Most of the cast will be Deaf, but the language in the film relies on expression, glance, and movement.
Redbird Pictures is producing the film, and it will be shot in early April 2023. Redbird Pictures is a Deaf-owned video production company that was founded as the video/film-production arm of MSM Productions, Ltd. in 2016. The goal has been to produce and disseminate high-quality videos, promos, shorts, documentaries, and feature films.
What We Need & What You Get
Your contribution will go to studio & gear rentals, post-production, set-design, hair & make-up, travel reimbursement, and craft services. We want to make this film a high-end production so we can submit it to film festivals and build our work as a Deaf-owned production company.
When the film is completed around May or June, we want to showcase our lovely film to several film festivals. It costs to submit to festivals, so the fees are included in the budget.

The Impact
The film makes people think about how we communicate with each other through the use of non-dialogue action. Symbolic of our society, which evolves through human behaviors, relationships, and morality, we see a dynamic interaction take place at the Table. We believe the film presents different interpretations which are up to the audience!
As Deaf filmmakers, we want to see more Deaf filmmakers succeed in film productions like ourselves. We want this film to make an impact on both Deaf and hearing communities by recognizing the successful collaboration between Deaf and hearing team members. Through this production, we will continue to build collaborative relationships.
