I've created this fundraiser to help launch a new lifestyle brand of clothing and gear just for the female player. Let's create a cool brand, designed, produced, and purchased by women for women. Help me create high quality, fair trade, earth-friendly wear that gives back to the sport we love. Each product will be made by a women's artisan co-op, paying them Fair-Trade wages, in countries where their women's national team needs support.
I'd love it if you would partner with me on this adventure.
First product - a beanie made in Haiti. More photos to come.

- We like to play hard and we're tough; we like to look good in clothes made for our bodies. With your support, you'll be helping empower females around the world, of all ages, as we all see and recognize a brand that represents us. 30 million females play soccer - help me create quality gear, clothing, and accessories for all of us. Keep reading and I'll tell you why it's not going to be simply stylish but also do a lot of good for females and for the women's game.
- This Soccer Girl campaign is to help get the brand started - to give it a good kick off! We're starting slowly, one product at a time, wanting to do things well and do good along the way. We're having our products made in countries where their national team needs our support. I remember hearing about the Haiti Women's team trying to qualify for World Cup only to not have enough money for the taxi. Then, when they got some funds they gave them to Trinidad/Tobago who needed money for food. There are a lot of these stories for women's soccer. These stories clicked inside my brain, and I thought I'd come up with a way to give back - so a percentage of profits will be donated to the Women's Soccer Program in the country where our product is being made. First up is Haiti (yes, they're still struggling after that horrible earthquake five years ago), sadly so many women's soccer programs struggle. I want to do this right by lifting up women all along the way, from sourcing material, to producing it, to purchase.
What We Need & What You Get
We're asking for $15,000 to get this first product launched and set us up to build the business and get started on future products.

Stretch Goals
TRAVEL TO HAITI! We've been invited to travel to Fond des Blancs and visit the Artisans' Cooperative, meet the women creating the beanies, and watch their soccer girls play. We'd love to visit and take them supplies for the soccer girls (their field is surrounding by prickly plants which pop their balls!) and capture some media content to share this project with the world, show the beauty that is Haiti, and support Haiti Projects' work by sharing it on our multiple media platforms.
CONTINUE CREATING PRODUCTS. Next up will be Gear Bags designed with the female player in mind.

Our model is Haiti Projects' employee Sophonie; knitting by Sonia.
We chose Haiti Projects in Fond Des Blancs, Haiti to make our first ever product. (From their website) "Haiti Projects is a 501(C)(3) corporation with focused initiatives to empower women of rural Haiti toward self-sufficiency. We provide access to jobs at fair trade wages, education, health care, and avenues for building sustainable community. Haiti Projects is located in the town of Fond des Blancs. We are currently the second largest employer in a region of Haiti where over 35,000 people live with no electricity or public services."
Their Artisan Cooperative will be making our beanies with yarn they had donated from Calvin Klein - definitely re-use sourcing. Based on a design chosen by YOU through social media, the women came up with a knit pattern to match. We have photos of the first prototype and are awaiting samples to sew on our woven label to brand it as a Soccer Girl product. We've worked into our costs the shipping from Haiti and paying Fair Trade wages

The Impact
Here's our mission you'll be supporting: Our mission is to promote women’s soccer around the world and empower ladies of all ages to play and enjoy the game for a healthy and positive path in life. We strive to empower females by making products that have the most impact possible for women in soccer countries where we can make a difference to the women’s game and the women who live there. We choose to use our bottom line for good and believe in creating value for society by merging buying power and financial success with standards of Fair Trade and environmental responsibility.
Risks & Challenges
The challenges to this project come with my chosen slow method of doing business and working with sometimes rural and remote communities. This could mean we're slower to offer new products or there could be delays in shipping.
- I'm a great troubleshooter and will work at making the logistics work for everyone, and I'm all about communication, so just email if you have questions or concerns.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some of you can't contribute financially, but please contribute to the dream of Soccer Girl by helping us spread the word:
- Please make some noise about the campaign! Get loud like you're watching your fave team play. Let everyone know you're cheering for us.
- Please share with your social friends on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
More about the team!
Check out the awesome teammates helping me with this project! They are ready to help spread the word about this campaign through social media. I can't wait to send them the first beanie samples, thanks Lauren and Helenna!
